부부치료에서 영성의 역할에 대한 연구분석 (The Trends and Issues of Research on the Marital therapy and Spirituality)

초록

The purpose of this research is two folded: to explore the previous studies of how the incorporation of spirituality in marital therapy and counseling has enhanced the therapeutic process, and to provide suggestions on how such incorporation can help the holistic approach to marital therapy and counseling. It is true that spirituality is an important part of pastoral counseling which emphasizes the care for holistic human beings.
This paper reviews previous studies and examines many practical interventions and guidelines by the waves and topics which have tried to integrate spirituality and religion into therapy and training. Through the analyzing process, this research suggests how therapists can approach a spiritually integrated psychotherapy and what kind of specific issues therapists need to deal with to provide holistic therapy. With growing attention to marital relations, researches have increased its emphasis on the systematic approach to marital therapy.
In Korean society, it has been reported that religious aspects have influenced marital relations positively. This research encourages valuing spirituality as a useful resource in clinical work. At the same time, this issue challenges discussion with various disciplines and religious tradition in marital therapy. Marital therapists have to identify their beliefs and spiritual traditions first in order to provide spiritually integrated psychotherapy.
Further research is suggested to develop how various aspects of spirituality can affect marital relationships and therapeutic processes in different cultural contexts. To develop more specific techniques and strategies,qualitative research on this issue needs to be done in the future.
