초록

이 글의 목적은 전작에 대한 <슬기로운 의사생활>의 자기반영성을 살펴보는 데에 있다. 그것은 드라마의 시간성과 공간성으로 나눠 이루어진다. 드라마의 시간성은 ‘응답하라’ 시리즈의 주된 시간이었던 ‘과거’를 <슬기로운 의사생활>이 ‘현재’로 옮겨오면서도 어떻게 전작과 흡사할 정도로 레트로 감성을 환기시키는지 다룬다. 그것은 그때/거기의 감각을 ‘밴드’라는 극적 장치를 활용해 지금/여기에서 재현해냄으로써 성취된다. 또한 드라마의 공간성은 <슬기로운 감빵생활>과 <슬기로운 의사생활>의 극적 공간인 감옥과 병원이 장소정체성으로 말미암은 행위-공간에 있어 무엇을 같이하고 무엇을 달리하는지 밝힌다. 교도소/수형자 중심의 <슬기로운 감빵생활>이 공간의 폐쇄성과 역할의 수동성으로 극적 운신의 폭에 제약을 받았다면, 병원/의사(들) 중심의 <슬기로운 의사생활>은 공간적 폐쇄성을 역할의 능동성으로 상쇄시켜 서사적 확장의 여지를 마련한다. 요컨대 <슬기로운 의사생활>은 전작(들)의 시간성 및 공간성의 갱신에 힘입어 완성된 자기반영적 드라마이다.

영어초록

This article aims to consider self-reflectivity of Hospital Playlist on the previous works. It is divided into temporality and spatiality of drama. In relation to drama’s temporality, this article deals with the way Hospital Playlist arouses the retro sensitivity that resembles the previous works, reproducing ‘the past’ that was a primary time of the ‘Reply’ series in ‘the present’. When it comes to drama’s spatiality, also, this article looks into common things and differences in action-space coming from place identity between a prison and a hospital, where are dramatic spaces of Prison Playbook and Hospital Playlist. This is to reveal aspects of self-reflective intertextuality performed in a television drama.
In Hospital Playlist, a band appears as a dramatic setting to reproduce the sensibility of the time/there, which is a symbol of the ‘Reply’ series in the present/here. The past/equipment/singer of the ‘Reply’ series are substituted with the present/instrument/role by the medium of the band. In so doing, the drama accepts the untouched, musical effect that the previous works exerted inside and outside the dramatic world, although it is based on quite different temporality from the previous ones. On the other hand, the prison of Prison Playbook is changed to the hospital of Hospital Playlist. Prison and hospital are not different, given that these are to accommodate guilty prisoners and patients with diseases in limited spaces for a certain period of time. However, hospital/doctor-based Hospital Playlist provides a room for narrative extension by offsetting spatial closeness through activeness of roles, while prison/prisoner-based Prison Playbook was limited in the scope of dramatic movements due to spatial closeness and passivity of roles. In short, Hospital Playlist is a self-reflective drama completed by renewing temporality and spatiality of the previous work(s).
