하이델베르크 요리문답의 성령론, 그 윤리적 함의 (The Pneumatology of the Heidelberg Catechism: Its Ethical Implication)

초록

본 논문은 하이델베르크 요리문답의 성령론을 개괄적으로 살펴보고, 이 요리문답이 가지고 있는 윤리적 함의에 대해서 살펴보고 있다. 이를 위해 본문의 분석과 더불어 이 요리문답을 연구하고 있는 현대 신학자들의 관찰로부터 도움을 받고 있다. 하이델베르크 요리문답의 성령론의 중요성은 여타의 다른 신앙고백전통이나 요리문답과 비교해볼때에도 확연하게 두드러진다. 성령의 사역에 있어서 이 요리문답은 구원과 칭의의 사역으로부터 선한행위를 통한 하나님의 형상의 완성에 이르는 포괄적인 측면을 다루고 있다. 이러한 성령론에 기반을 두고 본 요리문답이 지닌 윤리적 함의는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 우선 윤리의 주체가 인간 “나”가 아니라 삼위일체 하나님에게 있다고 하는 인간중심성에 대한 비판과 우리를 향해 행동하시는 성령의 주체적 사역에 대한 고백이 드러나있다. 또한 “나” 이전에 공동체를 세우고 시대와 장소를 넘어 성도들을 연합하게 하는 공동체 윤리의 주체로서의 성령에 대해 요리문답은 보여주고 있다. 또한 요리문답은 성례전과 관련하여 화평과 관용의 정신을 잘 나타내 보여주고 있는데, 이것은 성례전의 주체로서 평화를 실현시키는 영으로서 성령의 역할을 통해 가능한 것이다. 성례전에 있어서 기독론적 차이가 교파간의 분열을 귀결시킬 수 있었던데 반해서, 성령의 역할의 강조는 에큐메니칼 정신과 화합의 정신을 가능하게 해 주었다. 이와같은 화합의 의미는 오늘날 교회의 분열 가운데 일치의 정신을 설명하는데 있어서 좋은 지침을 제공해준다고 할 수 있다. 더 나아가 성령은 요리문답에서 기독론적 성령론으로서 성도들을 향해 그리스도의 삼중직의 의미를 실현하게 하는 주체로서 나타나고 있다. 성령의 기름부음의 직분에 대한 해석을 통한 오늘날의 현실 속에서의 역동적 신앙의 삶을 중시하는 관점은 이 요리문답이 지닌 역사 속에서의 생동성에 대해 생각하도록 해준다. 이러한 이유들로 인해 이 요리문답은 450년 전 작성자들이 생각했던 것 이상의 많은 반향을 오늘날에도 일으키고 있으며, 시대 속에서 교회의 길에 대한 숙고와 실천을 위한 기반을 제공해주고 있다.

영어초록

The Pneumatology of the Heidelberg Catechism: Its Ethical Implication Sang-Eun Lee (Seoul Jangsin University, Systematic Theology) This paper purports to research the Pneumatology of Heidelberg Catechism and its ethical implication. It deals with the text of the Catechism and, to do this, it uses help from the perspectives of the current theologians who study its implication in contemporary situation. When it comes to Pneumatology, this Catechism shows the importance of the role of the spirit more than any other documents of the Reformation. It deals with the works of spirit comprehensively, namely from the works of justification and sanctification to the achievement of meaning of the shape of God (imago Dei) through performing good works of the renewed person. From this perspective, we can describe the ethical implication of this catechism as following. First, it shows the criticizing attitude against the anthropocentricity with the ethics of the liberal theology, whereas it maintains that we can seek the ground of the ethics in the economical acting of the holy spirit who enables us to accomplish the ethics, as a person of the trinity. It also shows the position and the work of the spirit as the ethical subject who establishes the community before electing the human subject "I" as the redeemed one, and unifies the saints over the boundaries of the era and locations, namely as the subject of the unity in diversity. The spirit initiates to produce the peace and tolerance, as its sacraments doctrine shows. While the chrisotogical difference in the sacrament brought conflicts between various denominations, the emphasis on the role of the spirit could make it possible that the reconciliation between parties and ecumenical consensus could be achieved. Furthermore the spirit in the Catechism, like the christological-spirit, appears as the subject who makes it possible that the saints practicize the implication of the triple cure (munus triplex) in their own positions. Considering the description of the role and works of the spirit, we can evaluate value of this Catechism in the contemporary days. So we can see that this Catechism still has the echoes in current situation more actively than what the drafters planed originally, and it demonstrates us the way for the practice of the church confronting the challenge from its era.
