項穆 『書法雅言』의 創作論에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the creation theory of Hangmok『Shufayayan(書法雅言)』)

초록

서예는 정서를 표출하고 서예가는 창작 과정에서 情感과 心懷, 審美理想을 합일적으로 표현해야 한다. 그 밑바탕에는 유가의 중화미학이 자리 잡고 있다. 項穆은『書法雅言』에서 유가윤리 사상과 서예의 심미사상을 중화의 심미경지를 통해 연계하고 통일시켰다. 항목이 추구하는 中和의 심미경지는『書法雅言』「心相」에서 말하는 “서예는 곧 마음을 전하는 것이다.”라는 관점과 매우 밀접한 관련이 있다. 서예가의 개성과 인품, 심미정취, 문화수양, 필묵표현, 기교 등은 서예가의 내재된 창작전의 풍격이다. 이런 점에서 항목은 서예창작에서 意在筆先과 凝神靜思를 강조하고 思無邪, 無不敬의 心正을 통해 中和美를 담아낼 것을 요구한다. 항목은 중화미학에서 출발하여 ‘從心所欲’의 경지에서 藝術的 美와 道德的 善이 융합된 서예를 강조하는데, 그 중심사유에 중화의 심미경지가 자리 잡고 있다. 아울러 項穆은 서예가 추구하는 궁극적 경지로서 神化를 강조하고, 從心하되 법도의 틀에서 벗어나지 않는 化가 진정한 化임을 말한다. 유가미학은 盡美盡善의 심미적 이상과 중화미학을 중시하는데, 항목의 서예창작론의 핵심이 된다. 항목이 지향한 중화미는 유가가 지향하는 떳떳한 윤리를 밝힐 수 있고 사람의 마음을 깨끗이 할 수 있는 효용성이 있다. 이런 점에서 항목은 중화중심주의를 통해 心正의 서예창작론을 주장한다. 항목은 서예창작에서 용필과 관련된 기법뿐만 아니라 창작심태에서도 윤리도덕에 부합함을 요구하고 있다. 유가미학에 근간한 서예 창작은 본래 和諧의 원칙에 따라 구성된 예술미의 형태를 높이 평가했다. 유가미학에서 볼 때 ‘중화’는 서예의 모든 범주에서 체현하여야 한다. 이런 점을 項穆은 對待를 中和의 영역에 끌어들이되, 서예 형질미와 관련된 正奇, 老少, 肥瘦, 方圓 등의 陰陽對待 관계인 대립요소들의 妙合을 통해 서예의 창작론을 전개하고 있다.

Calligraphy has to expresses the emotions and calligraphers must express the feelings and underthought(心懷), Aesthetic ideals(審美理想) in the creative process together. The Chinese aesthetics of Confucianism has located in the heart of the creation. Items have unified the Confucian thought and Aesthetic idea in Calligraphy through the aesthetic stage of the states of equilibrium and harmony in『Shufayayan(書法雅言)』. The Aesthetic stage of the states of equilibrium and harmony that items pursuit is very closely related with the point of view that is “Calligraphy conveys the mind” referred to 『Shufayayan(書法雅言)』「Xinxiang(心相)」Individuality and personality of the calligrapher, aesthetic taste, cultural discipline, expression or pen and ink, tjqjqdkdjs.virtuosity, etc. is inherent personality before the creation of the calligrapher. In this respect, Hangmoks highlight Yizaibixian(意在筆先) and Duidaimiaohe(凝神靜思), and require putting the beauty of the states of equilibrium and harmony through Hsin-cheng(心正) of ‘Having no depraved thought(思無邪)’, ‘Mindfulness(無不敬)’. Items emphasize on calligraphy that is started from the stage of ‘following what my heart desired(從心所欲)’ and fused with artistic beauty and moral goodness, The Aesthetic stage of the states of equilibrium and harmony is situated in the central thought. In addition, Hangmoks highlight the Apotheosis as the ultimate stage that Calligraphy seeks, it is said that doing 'following mind(從心), but hua(化) without departing from the framework of the law is authentic hua(化). Confucian aesthetics regards the aesthetic ideals and aesthetics of the states of equilibrium and harmony of 'most virtuous and most beautiful(盡美盡善), and is the core of calligraphic creation theory of the Hangmoks. The beauty of the states of equilibrium and harmony that items aim can clarify honorable ethics which Confucianism pursues, and there is a utility that can cleanse the hearts of the people. In this respect, items insist on the calligraphic creation theory of Hsin-cheng(心正) through the states of equilibrium and harmony centralism. Hangmoks are required to comply with the ethics in simtae of creation as well as techniques associated with the use of a brush in calligraphic creation. Calligraphic creation based on the Confucian aesthetics has originally highly appreciated the form of the beauty of art composed by the principles of the harmony. When viewed in Confucian aesthetics, the states of equilibrium and harmony shall be embodied in all categories of calligraphy. Hangmoks attract Duidai(對待) in the region of the states of equilibrium and harmony, and develop Calligraphic creation theory through 'Miaohe(妙合)' of elements of conflict that is 'Duidai(對待)' relations such as ‘Zhengqi(正奇)’, ‘Laoshao(老少)’, ‘Feishou(肥瘦)’, ‘Fangyuan(方圓)’, etc. associated with the characteristic beauty of Calligraphy.
