존재론적 욕망의 회화적 역능성 연구 (A Study of The Pictorial Puissance of The Ontological Desire)

초록

지난 세기를 거치면서 코키토 주체보다는 몸주체가 부상되면서 예술분야에서는 이전보다 현격하게 욕망이 부각되고 있다. 이때 욕망은 소유론적 욕망과 존재론적 욕망으로 대분할 수 있는데 본 논문이 주목하고자 하는 대상은 존재론적 욕망이다.
존재론적 욕망이란 존재에 대해 사유하는 욕망이며 과잉 주의(注意)를 경계하는 사유이거나 소유론적 욕망을 성찰할 수 있는 통섭적인 욕망을 말한다.
존재론적 욕망이 요청되는 까닭은 우리가 사물들을 이해할 수 있는 우리의 능력보다 사물들이 더 빠르게 변하는 미증유의 복잡성의 순간을 살고 있기 때문이다. 복잡성에 대한 성찰은 지구생태계가 안정성을 유지할 수 있는 유일한 조건이기 때문에 되돌릴 수 잆는 인간의 조건이 되었다. 이때 복잡성은 인간의 소유론적 욕망 즉 자기중심적인 세계관을 용해시키고 대신 생태론적 시각이랄 수 있는 자기중앙적(net-work centric) 세계관의 중요성을 부각시키는데 여기서 요청되는 것이 인간의 존재론적 욕망이다.
이 같은 존재론적 욕망은 최근의 들뢰즈의 생명철학이나 데리다의 해체철학과도 관련이 깊지만 특별히 노장사상의 무위(無爲)나 불교의 공(空)과 같은 동양적 사유방식과 친밀하다는 점에서 예술행위에 있어서 주목할 필요성이 배가된다고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This thesis is focussed on the puissance of ontological desire of Non-representation in Art. It concerns to the self-negation and the moment of complexity.
1) We are living in the moment of unprecedented complexity. This is a time of transition betwixt a period that seemed more stable and a time equilibrium will be restored. Awash in a sea of meaningless information and images by new media, many people long for stability. Stability, however, can be deceptive. In the world that is emerging, the condition of complexity is irreducible. While the moment of complexity generate uncertainty, today's cultural transformation are also creating possibilities for apprehending ourselves in a new way. To understand our time, we must comprehend complexity, and we have to criticize the hyper-attention. That is to realize the dangers of the cogito-subject and one's hyper-positive attitude.
2) In Modern Era "Representation" is an activity of self-othering which is based on the subjectivity. The cogito-suject self identically reduces others. As a result, the representational painting shows up as a screen-like effect of "Presence" in the Late Modernist Painting. Since the pictorial image holds epistemological objectivism, it is similar to Language as the closed system. On the other hand, Non-representation in Art refers to the open system since presence and absence are based on double-negation. If the representation is the outcome of self-affirmation through self-othering, non-representation is the outcome of self-negation. This concept relate to the Trans-Linguistic Thought. In this thought, one's self-negation attitude continuously rejects the extinction of opposite minded manners such as subject/object, spirit/physic, visible/invisible. civilized/uncivilized, etc. Therefore, the non-representation, based on the self-negation, familiar with the kind of chaos-oriented axiology. Finally speaking, that is the result of puissance of the ontological desire and the net-work centric thought.
