이미지 소통과 소설: 김탁환 賣說之論 (Imagery Communication and Novels: Kim Tak-hwan’s Maeseoljiron)

초록

우리 문학 시장은 현재, 인문학 서적의 보편화와 미디어셀러 그리고 해외문학의 강세 외에도 유통구조의 문제에 대한 해결주체의 부재 등의 문제를 가지고 있다. 소설의 유통이 소통의 주요한 측면과 연결된다는 점을 고려하면 지면을 통해 함께 공개되기 가장 적절하고 소설의 외연을 확장시키는 데 가장 효과적인 이미지 서사체에 주목할 필요가 있다.
책공간 또는 지면위에 드러나는 적극적인 형상화, 감각화 작업의 결과물로서의 이미지를 적극적으로 구현하고 실험하는 소설가 김탁환의 작업을 들여다보면 크게 세 가지 형태로 나눠볼 수 있다. 우선 이야기와 병렬을 이루는 삽화나 사진을 통한 이미지 서사체를 통해, 서사적 커뮤니케이션에 관한 전통적인 인식의 방법, 곧 생산자(소설가)와 소비자(독자)만이 존재하던 종전의 텍스트 소통 상황을 넘어서는 새로운 차원의 소통 상황을 재구하도록 했다. 또한 시리즈 소설을 통해 전형으로 제시될 수 있는 유형화된 캐릭터를 구현하고 있고, 마지막으로는 원형의 스토리를 영상, 미디어 등의 다양한 매체에 제공하는 무블(Movel)의 크로스 콘텐츠 기획서사를 주체적으로 진행하고 있다.
김탁환은 이와 같은 작업을 통해 자기모멸에 빠지지 않는 방법으로서의 소설지론(小說之論)과 서사를 조율하는 기획자 또는 디자이너적 소설가로서의 위치를 마다하지 않는 다중적인 조율능력과 균형감감의 매설지론(賣設之論)의 가능성을 동시에 보여준다.

영어초록

Korean literature market is currently problematic in that there is absence of an agent to solve the problems of distribution system, a passive attitude to overcome all these crises just relying on readers and no fundamental solution in the long run definitely as well as comparative inferiority to foreign novels translated in Korean and published in Korea but for universalization of humanities, media sellers and the strength of foreign literature. The underlying core of the matter should be found in the natural strength in the field of literature that is not capable of producing new novels beloved by readers constantly, however, it must not be overlooked that the supporting role of publishing industry sharing its own ecosystem with the field of literature is also insufficient.
Considering that distribution of novels is linked to the important aspect of communication, it is necessary to pay attention to the most effective imagery narrative in expanding the scope of a novel and the most appropriate for released together through the published materials. It comes in three different forms largely when we examine Kim Tak-hwan’s work, the novelist who aggressively realizes and experiments images as the outcome of active imagery and sensualization, revealed in the space of a book or on the published materials. Most of all, through the imagery narrative using the illustrations and photographs in parallel with a story, he reorganized the communication situation in a new dimension going beyond the traditional method of awareness on narrative communication, that is, the existent text communication situation where there only existed the producer(novelist) and the consumer(reader). Second, he realizes the stereotyped character that can be suggested as an archetype through novel series. And third, he is conducting Movel’s narration featuring cross-content that provides the original story for different media such as video clips, different media independently.
With such work he shows the possibility of Soseoljiron(the discussion on writing novels) as a method that does not lead him to self-contempt on account of desperation of a novelist who must keep writing novels that cannot change the world and Maeseoljiron(the discussion on selling novels) of multiple mediating capability and sense of balance by not rejecting the position of a promotor tuning up narration or a novelist with a designer’s characteristics.
