초록

이 논문의 목적은 요한계시록과 이그나티우스의 서신들에 나타난 순교신학을 비교 연구하는 데 있다. 저자는 2장과 3장에서 각각 양자의 순교신학을정리한 후, 결론부에서 이 양자의 순교신학의 유사점들과 차이점들을 비교 진술한다. 그런 다음 저자는 선행 연구에서 볼 수 있듯이 양자 중 한 쪽에 의존해서 다른 한 쪽을 폄하하는 식의 이해보다는 양자의 개성을 인정하면서순교의 의미를 좀 더 포괄적으로 이해하도록 노력하는 것이 바람직 할 것이라는 제안을 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to make a comparative study on the theology of martyrdom in the Book of Revelation and the Letters of Ignatius. In chapter 2, the author arranges the theology of martyrdom in the Book of Revelation as follows:① martyrdom as a contribution to the advent of eschatological completion ② martyrdom as a sacrifice to God ③ martyrdom as a superior way of 'Imitatio Christi'④ martyrdom as an indication of loyalty to God that persecuted saints must observe to the end ⑤ the idea of 'martyr' as a sincere witness of Jesus ⑥ the participation in the reign of Christ as a special reward given to martyrs. In chapter 3, the author arranges the theology of martyrdom in the Letters of Ignatius as follows:① Christ is the ground and aim of martyrdom. ② Martyrdom is a work that really participates in the suffering of Christ and a way that accomplishes the discipleship completely. ③ Martyrdom is a work that ultimately arrives to God, and it is a sacrifice to God. ④ Martyrdom is the way that leads to true humanity for the completion of salvation, and is a sacrifice for the Church. In the concluding chapter, the author compares the theology of martyrdom in the Book of Revelation and the Letters of Ignatius. He claims that it is desirable to understand the meaning of martyrdom more comprehensively by recognizing the uniqueness of the two rather than disparaging one in favor of the other.
