초록

The comparative research with China on the traditional form of dress and ornaments of Old Joseon and its political system will provide more insight to the society of Old Joseon. In other words, if the comparative analysis on the hair styles and the forms of clothing of China is carried out properly, the topknot hair and the clothing style during the time when Yuman defected from the Yuan dynasty can be clarified. Also, the precise analysis of 'Seoideungdeung' fedual system of Qianhan Empire will reveal the reasons behind Yuman's defection to Old Joseon and why he abided to bureaucracy of Old Joseon although he continuously insisted he still belonged to Qianhan Empire, and will also contribute to approaching the nature of Old Joseon. Additionally, the analysis will review the defection process of Yuman and examine how Yuman subjugated Jinbeon of Old Joseon and expanded the territories, ultimately revealing that the location of Yuman Joseon was in the southern part of eastern river basin. This process will also serve as a method to prove that Yuman Joseon did not follow Old Joseon dynasty. By analyzing how the feudal system collapsed and how the autocracy of the emperor started, the reasons behind why the Yuan Wang raised a rebellion and escaped to the Huns can be discovered, and also why Yuman escaped to the rural areas in the western part of Old Joseon. The research also focused on proving wrong the assumption that the reason why Yuman followed the political system of Old Joseon instead of the system of the empire that he belonged to was because he was the leader who replaced Old Joseon. In other words, the reason why Yuman never abided to the feudal system despite the fact that he insisted he was still a servant of Qianhan Empire is because he did not want to inherit the throne of an autocratic empire where power solely belonged to the emperor.
The period from the Sung Dynasty of China to the period of warring states last from 1700 B.C. to 222 B.C. and it is referred to the middle and late period of Old Joseon. Goguryeo succeeded Old Joseon, so much of the dresses and ornaments that appear in ancient tomb murals in Goguryeo would have inherited their appearances from Old Joseon. Since 2200 B.C., Old Joseon had kept a friendly relationship with China, so the interaction between the two would have brought some impact. However, the dresses and ornaments in Goguryeo-period murals do not carry the characteristics of those of China from Sung Dynasty to the period of warring states. Even though Goguryeo expanded to the Liao Xi area and constantly clashed with Qianhan and Diguo Empire, the dresses and ornaments were adhered to the style of Old Joseon and they developed the style.
From these facts, it can be assumed that Yuman would have worn topknotted hair, closure and sleeves, wide pants, and thick outer garment. This is because the time when Yuman defected from empire after raising a revolt is February of Year 12 of Gojo, a very cold climate to cross Pae River.
