유리화로 구현된 그림책 <행성 여행자> 시리즈 연구 (A Study on the Picture Book Expressed in Glass Painting Series)

초록

본 연구는 그림책과 유리화를 융합한 예술 작품을 통해 소외된 개인이 타인과 소통하고 공감하는 방식을 제안하며 그만의 차별화된 특징과 효과, 의미를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이미지 중심의 이야기 전개로 보다 쉬운 이해와 소통, 더 나아가 교육적 효과를 특징으로 하는 그림책을 유리화로 재해석하고, 관객과의 소통과정에서 나타난 특징들을 고찰하는 방식으로 연구를 진행하였다. 연구 배경으로써 그림책의 기원과 발전에 대해 살펴보고 그림책이 지닌 고유의 소통 방식을 고찰하였다. 이를 바탕으로 그림책 『행성 여행자』를 구성하고 이를 유리화로 표현한 <행성 여행자> 시리즈로 제작했다. 그림책의 이미지를 구현함에 있어 유리화를 선택한 것은, 빛이 투과되는 투명한 유리의 물성에서 비롯된 다양한 효과가 『행성 여행자』이야기에서 주로 다룬 빛과 색채를 표현하는데 효과적인 부분을 고려했기 때문이다. 작품 연구의 마지막 방식으로 진행한 전시와 관객 설문을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 『행성 여행자』의 이야기가 관객의 예술 경험의 내재화 과정을 도울 수 있었다. 이를 통해 타인과의 소통에 바탕이 되는 진정한 자아를 인식하는 계기를 마련할 수 있었다. 둘째, 그림책의 이야기와 유리화로 표현된 그림들을 통한 관람객의 정서적인 위로의 과정을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 그리고 이 과정에서 그림책과 유리화가 서로 보완해주는 부분들을 파악할 수 있었다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to propose a way for underprivileged individuals to communicate and empathize with others through art works that combine picture books and glass paintings, and to present their differentiated characteristics, effects, and meanings. This study was conducted by reinterpreting picture books characterized by "easier understanding and communication through image-centered story development" and "educational effect" into glass and examining the characteristics of communication with the audience. As a research method, the origin and development of picture books were first examined, and the inherent communication method of picture books was examined. Based on this, the story of the picture book "Planet Voyager" was created to console those who are tired of alienation and provide an opportunity to recognize the true self based on communication with others, and implemented it as a <Planet Voyager> series by glass painting. The reason why I chose vitrification in implementing the image of the picture book is that I thought various effects from the physical properties of transparent glass through which light is transmitted were effective in expressing light and color mainly dealt with in the story of "Planet Voyager". The following conclusions could be drawn through exhibitions and audience surveys conducted as the last method of work research. First, the story of "Planet Voyager" helped the process of internalizing the art experience. Through this, it was possible to provide an opportunity to recognize the true self, which is the basis of communication with others. Second, it was possible to examine the emotional comfort process of visitors due to the story of the picture book and the paintings expressed in glass. And in this process, we were able to know the parts where picture books and glass paintings complement each other.
