신간회 창립 주도세력과 민족주의세력의 정치 지형 (The Prime Groups of the Establishment of Singanhoi and Political Topography of the Nationalist Groups)

초록

이 글은 신간회 창립시 발기인회와 초기 중앙간부를 차례로 분석함으로써 신간회 중앙조직이 어떠한 정치세력으로 구성되어 있으며, 주도 세력은 어떠한가, 그리고 그 특징과 성격은 무엇인가를 살펴보고, 더 나아가 신간회 초기 중앙조직을 주도하였던 조선일보계열의 특징과 성격을 구체적으로 분석함으로써 신간회 창립 전후의 민족주의세력의 존재 형태와 정치 지형의 일단을 해명한 것이다. 이를 통해서 기존의 민족주의세력에 대해 타협적 민족주의와 비타협 민족주의로 구분하는 가설에 대해 근본적인 재검토를 하였다.
신간회를 둘러싼 민족주의세력과 사회주의세력의 관계, 또한 각 세력 내부 유파들의 협력과 대립의 길항관계는 타협과 비타협, 변혁과 개량식으로 쉽게 나누고 재단할 수 있는 것이 아니었다. 동북아 정세변동을 직접적 배경으로 하면서 세계 사회민주주의와 공산주의 정치동향을 일정하게 반영하고 있었다. 또한 민족주의세력 내의 조직적 대립관계가 사회주의세력 내의 노선과 조직적 대립관계와 중첩되어 각 정치세력의 유파에 따라 협력과 대립 관계가 복잡하게 얽혀 나타나고 있었다. 신간회 발기인회와 초기 간부 구성에서는 조선일보ㆍ시대일보계열과 흥업구락부ㆍ기호지방 기독교계열이 주도적으로 나섰다. 그렇지만 이들은 타협이나 비타협의 민족운동의 노선상의 차이로 흥사단ㆍ수양동우회ㆍ서북지방 기독교계열이나 동아일보계열과 구분되지는 않았다.
1920년대 중반시기에 이르러, 그리고 신간회가 창립되는 것을 전후로 하여, 천도교 신파에 대한 태도를 제외하고 민족주의세력의 민족협동전선과 그 표리관계를 이루는 합법적 정치운동에 대한 인식과 입장, 좌우합작과 민족협동전선에서의 민족주의세력의 주도권에 대한 입장은 거의 비슷해졌다. 당시 민족주의세력은 민족운동의 노선과 입장에서보다는 종교와 지역, 지도자를 중심으로 정치세력이 형성되었다. 조선일보계열은 다양한 세력들이 결합한 것이었는데, 그중에서 일반 민족주의세력과 일정하게 구별되는 행동을 보이는 것은 구 시대일보 출신 홍명희계열의 인물들 이었다. 이들은 대체로 민족주의운동과 사회주의운동의 경계선에 서있었다. 그렇지만 이들이 운동노선에서 여타 민족주의세력과 크게 구별되는 것은 아니었고, 현실 운동의 차원에서도 대체로 민족주의운동의 영역에서 활동하였다.

영어초록

This research aims to examine what political forces constituted the central organization of Singanhoi and what characteristics it had by analyzing the organizing committee and its early central executives when Singanhoi was established, and to explain part of political topography of the nationalist groups around the time of the establishment of Singanhoi by concretely analyzing the characteristics and nature of Chosun Ilbo groups and its affiliates which led the early central organization of Singanhoi. Through this, fundamental reexamination was conducted on the hypothesis which divided the existing nationalist groups into the compromising nationalist groups and uncompromising nationalist groups.
The relationship between nationalist forces and socialist forces over Singanhoi and the competitive relationships of cooperation and confrontation of the factions within the forces could not be easily divided or judged into compromising or uncompromising and revolution or improvement. With the direct background of political changes in Northeast Asia, they reflected the political trends of world social democracy and Communism consistently. Also, organizational conflicting relationships within the nationalist groups overlapped with conflicting relationships of lines and Organizational confrontation within socialist forces and the relationships of cooperation and confrontation became complicated according to factions of the political forces. The organizing committee of Singanhoi and its early executives were composed mainly of Chosun Ilbo groups and Sidae Ilbo groups and their affiliates and Heungeop-gurakbu, and Gyeonggi-Chungcheong regional Christian groups. However, they were not differentiated from Heungsadan, Suyang-Donguhoe, the northwest region Christian groups or Dong-A Ilbo groups and its affiliates according to the differences in compromising or uncompromising lines of the nationalist movement.
In the middle of the 1920s and around the time of establishment of Singanhoi, the recognition and position with regard to Lawful Political Movement which had the relation of two sides of the same coin with the nationalist cooperation front of the nationalist groups except the new faction of Cheondogyo, the coalition of left and right, position with regard to the leadership of the nationalist groups in the nationalist cooperation front became similar. The nationalist groups at that time formed political forces based on religions, regions, and leaders rather than the lines and positions of the nationalist movement. Chosun Ilbo groups were composed of diverse forces, and it was Hong Myeong-hui line persons from former Sidae Ilbo that showed actions that were differentiated consistently from those of the general nationalist groups. They were generally on the boundaries of nationalist movement and the socialist movement.
