초록

이 글은 코로나19라는 위기 상황에 나타난 시편을 통해 생태학적 상상력의 양상을 고찰하는 데 있다. 코로나19는 인류 생존을 위협하며 인간의 절망과 죽음을 보여준다. 또한 생명에 대한 강한 인식을 촉발함과 동시에 환경을 이해하는 중요한 단서를 제공한다. 지구 환경에서 가동되는 생태적 상상력은 비참한 현실 속에서 인간의 한계를 직시하고 생명성에 대한 문제의식으로 환원된다.
살펴본 코로나19 시편은 팬데믹 현상으로 전염병에 노출된 인간의 문제와 인류의 한계를 생태적으로 형상화한다. 게다가 현대인의 불안과 공포에 대한 구체적인 정서와 함께 문화 충격과 문명 파멸을 반영한다. 이는 교양적인 차원에서 감상과 해석을 넘어 현실의 문제를 인식하고 다가올 시대를 준비하는 것으로 현시된다. 그러면서 문학적 상상력은 팬데믹 상황에서 생태 이미지를 동원하는데 이것은 역동적인 세계의 생명성을 생태적 상상력으로 복원하여 절망을 극복하는 진료로 쓰인다.
이같이 교양 문학으로서 코로나19 시편은 생태적 상상력을 통해 사회의 다양한 문제를 진단하고 성찰하며 심화시킨다. 현대적인 의미에서 문학은 당대 현실의 문제를 직입하면서 시대의 갈등을 증폭시키며 재현한다. 생태적 상상력이 일상이라는 현재에 주목하는 것은 더 나은 세계로 나가는 역동성으로서 실천적 대안을 모색하기에 이른다. 이 같은 문학의 쓰임은 인문학 교육의 가치와 역할을 지니는 가운데 위기의 현실을 극복할 수 있는 모형을 제시하기도 한다. 현실인식의 차원에서 인간과 시대적인 모순을 모방하는 생태 문학은 기존의 그릇된 인간 존재 의식을 수정하며 환경을 변혁하려는 생태적 사유 활동에 기여한다.
이에 연구 방법으로 코로나19라는 팬데믹 상황과 위기를 다룬 시편을 탐구하는데 생태학적 상상력의 양상을 살피는 것이다. 선행적으로 코로나19라는 팬데믹과 생태학적 상상력의 관계를 살피고 텍스트인 코로나19 시편에 주입된 이미지를 탐구했다. 나아가 코로나19 시편에 두드러지게 나타난 이미지의 양상을 구분하여 살피고자 한다. 그것은 탐구할 코로나19 모티브를 가진 시편에서 이미지가 유사한 세 분류의 작품을 선정했다. 첫째 일상의 변화 속에서 나타나는 분리와 불안의 문제를, 둘째 식물에 대한 생명성의 발현으로 각성하는 성찰과 비판의식을, 셋째 죽음에 대한 애도의 성격을 드러내면서 미래 희망을 향한 팬데믹 극복 의지 등을 고찰했다.

영어초록

This study examines the aspects of ecological imagination of poems that have emerged during the COVID-19 crisis. COVID-19 threatens human survival and shows despair and death. In addition to providing a strong understanding of life, it also provides important clues to understanding ecology. Despair and death are reproduced through ecological imagination along with vitality while facing human limitations in a tragic reality.
The poems in the COVID-19 pandemic reflect the emotions and social problems of modern people in the poetry created in the midst of disasters of pandemic. In addition, it reflects social problems along with specific emotions about modern people’s anxiety and fear. And the literary imagination mobilizes the ecological image during the pandemic, which is used as a medical treatment to overcome despair by restoring the vitality of the dynamic world to the ecological imagination.
In this way, the poems in the COVID-19 pandemic as a liberal literature diagnose, develop, and deepen various social problems through ecological imagination. Moreover, in a modern sense, literature directly addresses the real problems of the time, amplifying and reproducing the conflicts of the times. Focusing on the present of everyday life and reality leads to the search for practical alternatives as a dynamic to go to a better world. Here, the use of literature may present a model that can overcome the reality of crisis while fulfilling the value and role of humanistic education. Literature that imitates human beings and the contradictions of the times in the dimension of perception of reality can correct the existing consciousness of human existence and contribute to the expansion of consciousness that seeks to change the world.
In addition, the research method is to explore the aspects of ecological imagination by examining the poems about the COVID-19 pandemic situation and crisis. Previously, I examined the relationship between the pandemic and the ecological imagination called COVID-19 and explored the image injected into the text, COVID-19. For this reason, I will look into ‘ecological imagination and image’ and try to distinguish and investigate the conspicuous ‘aspects of the image that appeared in the poems in the COVID-19 pandemic’. It calculated three categories of works with similar images in the poems about the COVID-19 motif to explore. While revealing the problem of separation and anxiety in everyday change, the reflection and critical consciousness awakened by the manifestation of life in plants, and the mourning character for death, it considered the hopes of reality and the will to overcome the pandemic.
