김혜순 문학의 영화적 상상력과 재현 양상 연구 (A Study on the Cinematic Imagination and Representational Aspects in the Literature of Kim, Hye-soon)

초록

김혜순은 한국 현대의 여성주의 시를 대표하는 인물이다. 2000년대 들어서면서 그의 시는 학계의 주목 대상이 되었다. 그의 시는 몸의 언어와 여성적 글쓰기를 통해서 남성 중심적인 질서를 해체하는 데 관심이 있었다. 그의 시는 의식이나 사상의 측면에서 여성주의 시라고 부를 수 있는 요소가 다분하다.
기존의 연구들은 주로 김혜순의 시를 여성주의라는 측면에서만 조명하였다. 그러나 김혜순이 지난 40여 년 동안 써온 작품들은 한 가지 범주로 묶을 수 없을 만큼 다양한 측면을 가지고 있다.
이 글에서는 김혜순이 한국 현대 시인 누구보다도 영화에 관심이 많은 사람이었다는 점에서 논의를 시작하였다. 1990년대에서 2000년대에 걸쳐 그가 쓴 시들이나 산문들을 보면 그가 영화들을 모티프로 해서 생각을 전개하거나 시를 구상하는 등 영화를 적극적으로 활용했다는 사실을 알 수 있다.
이 글에서는 김혜순 문학에서 영화가 어떤 방식으로 개입하고 있는지를 확인하는 작업을 시도하였다. 그가 본격적으로 영화 감상을 했던 것으로 보이는 1990년대 한국의 영상문화를 검토하여 그가 어떤 분위기 속에서 영화를 감상했는지를 살펴보았다. 그다음 그의 시에서 영화적 상상력이 어떤 모습으로 전개되고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 그리고 마지막으로, 그의 산문에서 영화들이 어떤 맥락에서 인용되는지를 살펴보았다.
1990년대 급속하게 퍼진 영상문화 속에서 섣부르게 문학의 죽음을 이야기하는 사람들도 있었다. 그런 상황에서 가장 적극적으로 영상문화와 대결했던 김혜순의 문학은 결국 영화나 영상이 할 수 없는 문학의 역할이나 기능에 대한 치열한 사유의 결과물이라고 할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

Kim, Hye-soon is a representative of modern Korean feminist poetry. In the 2000s, her poems became the focus of literary and academic circles. She was interested in dissolving male-centered order through body language and feminist writing. It was worth while calling her poems feminist poems in terms of awareness or ideas. But there is clearly a surrealistic side in which bizarre or fantastic images often appear in the process of expressing such consciousness or ideas.
Existing studies cast usually lights on the poems of Kim, Hye-soon only in terms of its feminism. She has written poems over the past 40 years or so. And her works have various aspects that can not be grouped into one category.
Kim, Hye-soon was more interested in movies than any modern Korean poet. Her writings from 1990s to 2000s showed that she has actively used cinematic imagination to develop ideas or devise poems.
Throughout society, the spread of image media such as tv and movies has expanded and its social influence has expanded. In particular, as the consumer industry developed and consumers' purchasing power increased amid the spread of democracy throughout society in the 1990s, the cultural desire based on individualism culture spread to interest in image media such as movies thanks to the medium of image technology. It was in the 1990s when the korean film market, which had been deformed under the pressure of the dictatorship until the 1980s, opened to the global film industry, and advanced image culture, including art and film, were gradually introduced, igniting the public's cultural needs.
In this study, I tried to investigate how the movies were intervening into literature of Kim, Hye-soon. At first, I looked at image culture in the 1990s in Korea, in which she has seen the movies. Then I looked at how the cinematic imagination was developing in her poems. And finally, in her prose, I looked at the context in which the movies were cited.
Some people rushed to talk about the death of literature in the fast-spreading image culture of 1990s. Under such circumstances, literature of Kim, Hye-soon, which was the most aggressive in confronting the image culture, could be said to has shown what the role of contemporary literature that cinema can not play in the contemporary society.
