    초록

    In this paper, tries to discuss with primary interest what opportunity Liangshiqiu(梁實秋) created the Yashexiaopin(雅舍小品) and how he practiced the literature of personality. Through this study, it can be confirmed that he opened up a personality literature containing the character and wisdom of intellectuals while looking at life in isolation.
    First, Liangshiqiu regarded literature as independent of the times and ideas, and emphasized the value of universal personality. However, the late 1930s, when he created his work, was when the discourse of resistance was mainstream. As a result, he was left out of the literary circle, and in addition, he had to take refuge in the rear to avoid the threat of the war. He completed the work by calmly projecting insights and wisdom into his daily life while facing a difficult living environment. In addition, even in the face of difficulties, he evoked a pleasant sense of affection with his expression of humor, savoring daily life and contemplating personality. In this way, he placed his role on pioneering the realm of personality literature independent of the times and ideas.
    Next, in order to effectively convey the subject and practice the value of personality literature, Liangshiqiu mainly used three creative methods: description and analysis in his works, humor and satirical writing, and citation of related knowledge. First, he summarized various aspects of personality from a rational and contemplative perspective and analyzed their properties. He analyzed the attributes of personality with an in-depth description of people’s common reactions and attitudes in everyday life, and described and analyzed the attributes and deceitfulness of personality that have been altered in an absurd society. Second, he expressed personality with humor and criticized the ills of personality and society with lively satire. Looking at the work, it expresses personality and society in a perfect way, arousing exclamation and laughter, and making them look back on themselves and their surroundings. He pointed out the ills of personality and secularity with in-depth insights, but he paid more attention to humor and satire to purify personality with laughter and improve problems in a mild atmosphere. Third, he familiarized himself with the relevant knowledge of the East and the West under the title of one work, expanding his wisdom to see life and developing it into a useful discussion. Looking at the work, it discusses daily life, but it shows insight into personality and thoughts of life regardless of time and place, mentioning not only classical knowledge but also famous people and wise sayings of each period. As a result, Liangshiqiu is praised as a master of prose, and Yashexiaopin is an “encyclopedia of personality” that shows the characteristics of personality that are common in everyday life and appears in various situations.
