리빙랩을 활용한 방화두건 디자인 개발 연구 (A Study on Design Development of Fire Hoods by Utilizing Living Lab)

초록

방화두건은 화재와 구조 현장에서 소방대원들의 안면부위와 목을 보호하는 개인보호장비(PPE: Personal Protective Equipment)이다. 본 연구는 국내 소방대원의 안전성 및 작업효율성을 향상하는 방화두건 개발을 목적으로 한다.
본 연구는 사용자 중심의 디자인 혁신 프로세스인리빙랩을 연구 방법으로 적용하였으며, 2015년 11월에서 2016년 6월까지 현직 소방대원 총 928명을 대상으로 4회의 리빙랩을 수행하였다. 방화두건에 대한 소방대원들의 요구 조사 리빙랩은 인뎁스 인터뷰, 온라인설문 조사, 7개의 국내외 방화두건에 대한 신체 적합성과 착용성에 대한 착의 테스트를 통해 수행되었다.
그리고 소방대원들의 요구사항과 사이즈 계측 결과를반영하여 디자인 프로토타입이 개발되었으며, 최종적으로 제작된 시작품에 대한 리빙랩을 수행하여 착용평가 결과를 도출하였다.
연구 결과, 발열 문제를 해결할 수 있는 통기성과흡습건조성이 향상된 소재와 디자인 개선, 착용 편의성과 활동 용이성을 향상시킬 수 있는 기능성 디자인개발 및 필링 현상 개선이 방화두건에 대한 주요 요구사항으로 도출되었으며, 이를 토대로 원단의 색과가슴 부위 길이를 달리한 총 8개 타입의 시작품이 제작되었다. 각 시작품은 한국인 맞춤형 입체 패턴이 적용되었으며, 두상 길이와 안면창의 길이 조절로 면체와의 일체감을 향상하였다. 방화두건 소재는 내열성에 강한 파라아라미드 원사의 꼬임을 증가시켜 마찰력을최소화하는 편직 기술이 적용되었고, 두상부분 절개된부위에는 통기성이 향상된 메쉬 아라미드 소재가 개발 적용되었다. 개발된 방화두건 시작품은 최종 착용평가 리빙랩을 통해 열 배출 성능, 착용감 및 활동성향상 등을 포함하는 성능 및 디자인 개선 결과가 확인되었다.

영어초록

Fire Hoods are Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that protects the face and neck areas of fire fighters in the scene of fire fighting and rescue. The purpose of the study is to develop a fire prevention hood that enhances the safety and work efficiency of Korean fire fighters.
This study was conducted through Living Lab, a user-oriented design innovation process, and carried out 4 times with a total of 928 currently active fire fighters from November 2015 to June 2016. The Living Lab for studying the demands of the fire fighters regarding Fire Hoods was conducted through in-depth interviews, online-surveys, and fitting tests on body suitability and wearability using Fire Hoods from 7 different countries including Korea. The study developed design prototypes by reflected the demands of the fire fighters as well as the results of size measurements. Finally, the results of the wear evaluation were analyzed through Living Lab on the final prototypes.
As a result, the main concerns for the Fire Hoods were design improvements in materials with enhanced permeability, moisture absorption and dryness to solve heating issues, design development in functionality to enhance convenience and movement, and improvement regarding peeling issues. 8 design prototypes with different colors and lengths of the chest area were developed. Each prototype is applied with 3D patterns customized for Koreans and the design was unified with the face area by adjusting the length of the head and the length of the face hole. As for the material of the hood, resistance has been strengthened by applying knitting techniques that minimize friction by increasing the twisting of the pyramid threads which are high in heat-resistance, and the sectioned part on the head area is applied with permeability-enhanced mesh-aramid material. The prototypes of the developed Fire Hoods were confirmed in performances and design improvements including heat discharging performance, wearability and movement enhancements through a final fitting test Living Lab.
