자율주행 대중교통 내 인터랙티브 투명 디스플레이의 퍼블릭 디스플레이 효과 탐구 (Exploring the effectiveness of public displays on interactive transparent displays inside autonomous public transportation)

초록

박물관, 도서관과 같은 공공장소에 설치된 인터랙티브 디스플레이는 단방향의 정보전달만 가능한 정적인 퍼블릭 디스플레이에 비해 시각적 및 상호작용 측면의 증진된 사용자 경험을 제공할 수 있다. 차창 대신 설치된 투명 디스플레이에 탑승객이 원하는 정보와 변화하는 외부 환경을 정합하여 제공한다는 점에 있어, 자율주행 대중교통 내인터랙티브 투명 디스플레이는 정보 전달 측면에서 효과적일 것이다. 그러나, 자율주행 대중교통 내 인터랙티브 퍼블릭 투명 디스플레이의 외재적·내재적 특수성으로 인해 정적인 공간에서 수행된 인터랙티브 퍼블릭 디스플레이 연구결과들의 적요에 한계가 존재할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 연구진은 자율주행 차량 내 인터랙티브 투명 디스플레이 디자인가이드라인 제시를 위한 사전 연구로서, 자율주행 대중교통 내·외부 상황 요소별 콘텐츠 및 NUI 입력 인터랙션 방법선호도 탐구를 위한 비디오 기반 설문을 진행하였다. 설문 결과, 자율주행 대중교통 내 인터랙티브 투명 디스플레이사용 선호도는 자율주행 대중교통 내ㆍ외부 상황과 콘텐츠 종류, NUI 인터랙션 방법의 종류에 모두 영향을 받음을확인하였다 결론적으로, 자율주행 대중교통 내 인터랙티브 투명 디스플레이가 사용자에게 미치는 영향이 정적인 퍼블릭 디스플레이가 사용자에게 미치는 영향과 유사하다는 점과 투명 디스플레이의 투명성을 고려하는 새로운 디자인가이드라인 제시의 필요성을 확인하였다. 이에, 본 연구는 자율주행 대중교통 내 인터랙티브 투명 디스플레이에 기존의 정적인 환경에서 사용된 불투명한 인터랙티브 퍼블릭 디스플레이의 디자인 가이드라인 적용 가능성을 제시하는것 이상으로, 다양한 연구 및 평가 방법, 그리고 사전 연구되어온 난제들도 동일하게 적용될 수 있음을 보이며, 자율주행 대중교통 내 인터랙티브 투명 디스플레이만이 가질 수 있는 특수성에 대한 지속적 분석의 필요성을 시사한다.

영어초록

Interactive displays installed in public places such as museums and libraries can provide enhanced user experiences in terms of visual quality and interaction compared to static public displays that can only deliver one-way information. In that they replace car windows with transparent displays by matching the information desired by passengers with changing external environments, interactive transparent displays in autonomous public transportation are expected to provide new passenger experiences in terms of information delivery. However, due to the external and intrinsic specificity of interactive public transparent displays in autonomous public transportation, there may be limitations in the application of the results of interactive public display research conducted in static spaces to interactive public transparent displays in autonomous public transportation. Thus, as a preliminary study to present interactive transparent display design guidelines in autonomous public transportation, we conducted a video-based survey to explore preference of content and NUI (Natural User Interface) input interaction methods according to internal and external situation elements of autonomous public transportation. As a result of the survey, we confirmed that the preference for using interactive transparent displays in autonomous public transportation was affected by the internal situation, external situation of the autonomous public transportation, content type, and NUI interaction method. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the influence of static public displays on users was similarly expressed in interactive transparent displays in autonomous public transportation, and the necessity of presenting novel design guidelines that consider the transparency of transparent displays. Therefore, we showed that more than presenting the applicability of design guidelines for opaque interactive public displays used in existing static environments to interactive transparent displays in autonomous public transportation, various research and evaluation methods and pre-study challenges can be applied equally, suggesting the need for continuous analysis.
