홍산문화기 조양 반랍산 유적의 사회문화적 성격 (A Study on the Socio-Cultural Characteristics of Banlashan Cemetery in the Hungshan Cultural Period)

초록

본고는 조양 반랍산 유적에서 발굴된 제단과 무덤 형태, 신인상의 모습 변화를 통하여 홍산문화 말기 대릉하 일대의 사회문화상을 조망한 논문이다.
요서지역은 흥륭와문화기 소남산문화의 ‘환호를 두른 구릉성 적석단총’ 전통의 영향을 받은 이래 홍산문화까지 맥족계 제천문화가 지속되었다. 홍산문화 말기인 반랍산 유적에 이르러 단총의 형태에 변화가 생기는데 먼저, 제단의 소재는 흙으로 바뀌었으며 층수 또한 단층이 되었다. 제단의 상부에는 제천사(祭天祠)를 건립하였으며, 성속(聖俗)을 구분하고 중심제천시설을 보호하는 용도의 환호는 방형 돌담으로 바뀌었다.
총제(塚制) 역시 변화한다. 총(塚)의 소재가 돌에서 흙으로 바뀌었으며 무덤 중 가장 비중이 높은 석관묘의 형태 또한 상부 적석이 축소되거나 사라진다. 홍산문화 후기 대릉하 일대의 적석단총 전통을 계승한 석관묘와 다른 계통인 토광묘의 존재는 반랍산 유적 내 여러 집단이 있었음을 보여준다. 그런데 이 토광묘 역시 만기에 이르면 무덤 상부에 적석시설이 나타나는 등 토광묘 집단이 석관묘 집단의 적석문화를 수용하는 모습이 나타난다. 다만, 자신들이 가진 기존의 문화 위에 융합하는 형태로 수용하였다. 이외에도 반랍산 유적에서는 머리가 결여되거나, 머리만 매장된 형태의 무덤들이 발굴되었는데, 이러한 현상들은 당시 대릉하 일대에는 계통을 달리하는 여러 집단이 있었으며, 전쟁이나 지배층에서의 권력 다툼 등으로 사회가 혼란하였음을 보여준다.
사회적 변화는 반랍산 유적에서 출토된 신인상의 모습에서도 나타난다. 반랍산 유적에서는 모신상의 잔편과 여러 기의 남성형 신인두상(神人頭像)이 출토되었다. 모신상의 출토는 반랍산 유적에서 행해진 제천의례의 신격이 우하량 유적과 같은 계통이라는 것을 보여주며, 맥족계 제천문화를 바탕으로 하고 있음을 추정케한다. 그러나 현실 사회의 지도자의 모습을 표현한 남성형 신인상의 모습은 높고 넓은 이마와 콧대, 큰 눈과 주걱턱 등, 기존 대릉하 일대에서 출토된 신인상의 외형과 체질인류학적으로 다른 종족임을 나타낸다. 이런 신인상의 변화는 당시 요서사회에는 각기 다른 외양을 가진 다양한 계통의 종족들이 정주하였음을 보여준다. 이들 이민족은 홍산문화 후기가 시작되는 시점에는 별다른 정치체를 이루지 못하였으나, 시간의 흐름에 따라 제 집단 간 분열과 경쟁 과정에서 사회적 통합을 주도할 세력으로 새로이 등장하였다.
이들은 당시 대릉하 일대에 널리 퍼져있었던 맥족계 제천문화를 수용하면서 더불어 자신들의 문화적 전통을 융합하고 창출하였다. 이민족 집단의 선도제천문화 수용이라는 선택은 주효했고, 이민족 집단은 기존 맥족계와 사회적, 문화적, 정치적으로 융합이 되었다. 이러한 과정 속에서 기존 홍산문화 후기의 모습과는 다른 문화 통합의 기제(mechanism)로서 새로운 형태의 ‘선도제천문화’가 등장하는 계기가 되었을 것으로 판단된다.

영어초록

This article analyzes the socio-cultural situation in the Daling River大凌河 basin at the end of the Hungshan culture紅山文化 through changes in the appearance of altars壇, huge tombs塚, and divine-human statue神人像 excavated at Banlashan Cemetery半拉山遺蹟 in Chaoyang City朝阳.
The Liaoxi遼西 region has been influenced by the Xiaonanshan Culture's小南山文化 tradition of 'the hilly stone mound altar·tombs with a moat' in Wusuli River烏蘇里江·Sanjiang plant三江平原 since the Xinglongwa culture興隆窪文化 period. And its influence continued until the Hungshan culture. At the end of the Hungshan culture period, the appearance of the altar and tomb changed. First, the material of the altar was changed to soil. The number of floors also became a single layer. A shrine祭天祠 was built on the upper part of the altar. Then, the moat installed to protect the central ritual facility while representing the holy area were changed to a square-shaped stone wall.
The style of the tomb also changes. The material of the huge tomb塚 with individual tombs has changed from stone to soil. The form of Stone-Lined Tomb石棺墓, which is the largest number of tomb styles excavated at Banlashan Cemetery, also reduced or disappeared from the stone pile on the tomb. Pit burials土壙墓 show that there were several groups within the Banlashan Cemetery. However, this pit burials also have a Stone Mound on the tomb over time. The pit burials appear to embrace the Stone-Lined Tomb culture. However, they accepted it in a form of fusion on their culture. At Banlashan Cemetery, tombs in which only the body was buried without a head or only the head was buried without a body were excavated. These phenomena show that there were several groups in the Daling River basin at the time. And it shows that society was confused by war or a power struggle in hierarchy.
Social change is also seen in the divine-human statements excavated from the Banlashan Cemetery. Shards of the state of a goddess and several male-type divine-human statements were excavated from the Banlashan Cemetery. The excavation of the state of a goddess meant that the diversity of the performed Heavenly Rights of the Banlashan Cemetery was the same as the Niuheliang Site牛河梁 遺蹟. It is based on the Sundo Heaven Retual Culture仙道祭天文化 led by Maek race貊族. The male-type divine-human statues depicting the leader's figure depicted high and wide forehead and nose bridge, large eyes, and lantern jaws. It indicates that they are of a different species anthropologically from the appearance of the divine-human statues excavated from the existing Daling River basin. These changes in the divine-human statues show that the Liaoxi region at the time lived among different ethnic groups with different appearances. These immigrants did not form political group at the beginning of the late Hungshan culture period. However, over time, it emerged as a force that would lead social integration in the process of division and competition between groups.
They accepted the Maekrace Retual culture, which was widespread in the Daling River basin at the time. In addition, they fused and created their own cultural traditions. The choice of accepting the Sundo Heaven Retual culture of the immigrant group was effective. Through this, the immigrant group became socially, culturally and politically fused with the Maek race. In this process, it is believed that a new form of 'Sundo Heaven Ritual culture' appeared as a mechanism for cultural integration that was different from the appearance of the late Hungshan culture period.
