초록

아호 아나 블란디아나(Ana Blandiana), 본명 오틸리아 발레리아 코만(Otilia-Valeria Coman)은 루마니아 현대문학을 이끈 ‘60년도 세대’의 대표작가로 올해 고희를 맞이하여 창작 활동을 지속하고 있다. 데뷔이후 60년대 서정성과 은유와 비유를 담은 순수시에 전념했고, 70년대부터 현실과 시 사이의 괴리감을 소설로 표현했다. 등단부터 시작된 정부의 감시와 통제, 검열은 부친에게서 비롯된 것이다. 부친은 정교회 신부로 사회주의 정부에 대항하여 불평등 협정을 규탄하다 정치범으로 투옥되고, 석방된 뒤 자동차 사고로 죽는다. 어린 시절 부친이 불법무기소지죄로 체포되는데 그 이유가 자신의 실수임을 알게 되고 그 사건은 작가에게 평생의 트라우마로 남는다. '인민의 적'의 딸로 창작활동이 자유롭지 못해 아호를 사용하고, 정부에 의해 모든 작품이 검열당하고, 등단부터 총 3회 출판 금지를 당한다.
1977년 첫 번째 소설 『사계절: 겨울, 봄, 여름, 가을』은 ‘반사회주의 경향’으로 검열에 걸린다. 겨울부터 시작되는 네 편의 연작소설로 시성을 보이며, 각 장의 제목이 환유적이고 상징적이다. 에세이의 특성으로 독자들에게 질문을 던지는 방식을 도입하여 지적이고, 사색적이다. 환상소설인 만큼 주인공이 처한 상황을 이해하고 적응하는 모험담과도 같다. 1982년 『과거설계』는 독재정권하의 감시받고 통제당한 삶을 전복적인 환상의 특징과 결합시켰는데 검열에 걸린다. 그 해 독일의 알프레드 토퍼 재단의 헤더상을 수상한 후 재출판 되었고, 작가의 작품 중에 외국에서 가장 많이 번역 출판된다. 1992년 소설『박수를 담은 서랍』은 당시 루마니아 정부의 검열로 시 한 줄 문장 한 문장을 통제당하는 상황과 내면의 검열과 위험한 메카니즘으로 인해 사회 전체가 병들어가는 것을 목격하면서 기획한 것이다. 이 작품은 사회주의 정부시절에 인간의 삶을 다룬 다큐멘트 소설이며, 루마니아적인 유토피아를 묘사하였다. 작가에게 소설은 그의 삶의 일부인 시를 희생시키지 않고 작가가 처한 현실을 표출해내야 하는 매개체이자 그가 처한 현실을 벗어나는 탈출구이기도 했다. 소설은 작가가 현실에서 짊어진 짐을 이어받았고, 환상성을 더하여 그 경계를 확장시켰다. 그로인해 소설은 작가에게 밝혀지거나 드러나지 않은 진짜 현실을 묘사한다. 작가는 시의 함축성 안에 머물러 있어야 했던 ‘현실을 자유롭게 하고자’ 환상성을 사용한다.
삶은 작가의 기억이고 경험이며, 작가에게 소설은 기억을 담아내는 용기이다. 지금은 기억이라고 불리는 그 당시의 현실과 일상을 담고 있다. 그로인해 작가에게 소설은 존재의 정확인 거울이다. 3편의 소설집에서 그는 어린 시절 부친과 관련된 트라우마와 부친의 죽음, 통제당하고 감시받던 상황 등을 소재로 삼았다. 소설은 자전성을 보이고 그 당시의 일상과 역사를 확실성으로 고백한다. 작가가 시에서 은유와 상징을 사용하던 것을 소설에서 환상으로 대체했다. 환상장르는 그 내용물을 포장하고 숨기기에 알맞다. 그로인해 환상을 통해서 진실을 표현할 수 있다. 소설의 배경은 현실과 동떨어진 또 다른 세계가 아니며, 우리가 살고 있는 현실과 유사하다. 작가의 환상성은 현실을 ‘허구화’하는 것이며, 현실의 ‘비대화’이다. 그리고 ‘환상적 극사실주의’ 경향을 보인다.

Ana Blandiana is a pen name and her real name is Otilia­Valeria Coman. She is a representative of '60's Generation' group which have led Romanian contemporary literature. She is still playing an active part in the fields of literature even though she had reached her seventies. She was into pure poetry of metaphor, simile and lyricism during 60's and into novel which depicts the chasm between real world and pure poetry. From early days of her life as a writer, she became the victim of inspection, control and censorship of the government authorities because of her father. Her father was a priest of the Romanian Orthodox church and was jailed into prison for his political resistance against the unfair treaty of the communist government. When he was released from prison, he died from car accident. He was accused of illegal possession of weapons when she was a child. At that time she had fallen into trauma that her unclever move had led her father into death. Her father was branded as a public enemy, so she had no freedom to express herself as a writer. She had no choice but to use a pen name and her all works was censored. She could not get the permission to publish her works three times. Her first novel of the year 1977『Four seasons; winter, spring, summer, autumn』was censored to be anti-socialism. It was a serial work of four parts which had poetic beauty, metonymy and symbolism. In the frame of essay she created new style of questioning to readers which demanded for them to be intellectual and think throughly. Being a fantastic novel, it was like a adventure story which the hero exerts himself to get through. The novel of the year 1982『Past Project』which was praised to depict the censored and controlled life under dictatorship with excellent fantastic traits, could not avoid the censorship. The fact that she was awarded to Gottfried von Herder by Alfred Töpfer Foundation whose purpose was to appreciate the work of the writers who contributed the culture of central­southern europe made it possible for it to be published, translated into other language and to be the most popular work of hers in other countries. The novel of the year 1992『Applause in a drawer』had a purpose to depict the oppressed society by the governmental authorities and the harshness of internal censorship. It had a form of documentary and depicted the life of a man who was struggling in so­called utopian society of socialism. To her novel is a method to describe the severe circumstances around her without abandoning her precious poetry and the escape from there. The novel eased the burden on her shoulders, and fantastic traits in it enlarged the horizon. It made it possible for her to depict the genuine utopia which was hidden underneath the real world. She used the fantasy to free the real world, which was only implied in poetry. The real world is what she remembered, experienced and has been depicted in her novel. To her novel was a mirror which reflects the real world. The three novels contained the trauma related with her father's death and the oppressed life of hers, which we can say a autobiographic traits in her works. The fantasy in her novel is the equivalent to the metaphor and symbolism in her poetry. She went with the flow of contemporary literature. The fantasy was devised to express her thought in covert. She could tell the truth under the cover of fantasy. The setting of the novels bore the resemblance to real world. The fantasy to her is the fabrication and enlargement of real world. The novels of hers had a tendency for fantastic hyper­realism.
