초중등 도덕 교과 교육과정 변화와 인성교육을 위한 동양철학의 역할 (The Role of Eastern Philosophy in the Change of the Moral Education Curriculum in Elementary, Middle, and High Schools and in Personal Education)

초록

동양철학은 학교 도덕 교육의 중요한 내용으로 자리 잡았으나, 교육과정 개정으로 인해 동양철학의 비중이 줄어들고 있다. 2022 개정 교육과정에서는 2015 개정 교육과정에 비해 인성교육의 중요성과 역할이 줄어들었고, 도덕 교과의 내용요소에서 동양철학의 비중도 줄어들었다. 그리고 현재 초⋅중등 교육과정에 설정된 인성교육은 시민교육과 통합되어 시민교육의 틀 속에서 이루어지도록 되어 있다. 또한 고등학교 도덕 교과는 향후 수능 시험에서 제외될 예정이고 고교학점제가 시행됨으로 인해 동양철학에 대한 관심과 선택은 더욱 줄어들 것으로 보인다.
한동안 인성교육 관련 연구는 동양철학 분야에서 주도하였으나 인성교육을 위한 덕목이나 고전에 기초한 지엽적이고 자기중심적인 인성교육 방안 연구에 치중되어 있었다. 최근에는 비 동양철학 전공자들에 의한 인성교육 연구가 활발하며, 인성에 대한 개념 정의, 교육과정 편성과 인성교육 정책 등 실질적이고 구체적이며 거시적인 방향으로 연구가 이루어지고 있다.
동양철학이 도덕교육과 인성교육에서 의미 있는 역할을 수행하기 위해서는 교육과정 개정에 적극 참여해야 하며, 동양철학의 내용 요소와 가치들을 재정리하고 쉽고 유용하게 제시해야 한다. 또한 도덕 교과를 사회 교과로부터 독립시키고, 국어, 역사와 함께 수능 필수 과목으로 지정하며, 철학계, 종교계, 교육계와 협력 및 연대를 공고히 해야 한다. 그리고 동양철학 연구자들도 새로운 시각으로 미시적, 거시적 양 측면에서 도덕교육과 인성교육 방안을 연구해야 한다.

영어초록

Eastern philosophy has been established as an important content of moral education in schools, but the importance of eastern philosophy is decreasing due to the revision of the curriculum. In the revised 2022 curriculum, the importance and role of personal education has decreased compared to the revised 2015 curriculum, and the weight of eastern philosophy in the content elements of moral education has also decreased. In addition, personal education currently set in the elementary and secondary school curriculum is integrated with civic education and is to be carried out within the framework of civic education. In addition, high school moral education is expected to be excluded from the future college entrance exam, and interest in and choice of eastern philosophy is expected to decrease further due to the implementation of the high school credit system.
For a while, research on personal education was led by the field of eastern philosophy, but it was focused on minor and self-centered personal education methods based on virtues or classics for personal education. Recently, research on personal education by non-eastern philosophy majors has been active, and research is being conducted in a practical, specific, and macroscopic direction, such as defining the concept of character, organizing the curriculum, and personal education policies.
In order for eastern philosophy to play a meaningful role in moral education and personal education, it must actively participate in the revision of the curriculum, reorganize the content elements and values ​​of eastern philosophy, and present them in an easy and useful way. In addition, moral education must be made independent from social studies, designated as a required subject for the college entrance exam along with Korean language and history, and cooperation and solidarity with the fields of philosophy, religion, and education must be strengthened. In addition, eastern philosophy researchers must study moral education and personal education methods from both micro and macro perspectives with a new perspective.
