초록

『Changgajip(唱歌集) for Middle School with Organ Self-Study』is the first of its kind for a self-study with a detailed name of the organ as the western instrument at the title. The organ had been used for the hymn accompaniment and education in the Sunday School and worships as well as in mission schools since 1885 when western missionaries came to Korea for the first time. So the organ was the first western instrument that dominated the modern musical landscape in every corners of the country. The Korean musicians of first generation who had been first drawn into the sounds of an organ and then taught by the missionaries became teachers and began to publish the 『Changgajip』 from the 1900s.
『Changgajip(唱歌集) for Middle School with Organ Self-Study(1921)』 by Sang-June, Lee has a nature of such a self-studying book for the organ, and only provides brief explanations on music theory and keyboards of the organ in the form of supplement to a Changgajip. 『Changgajip(唱歌集) for Middle School with Organ Self-Study』 continued to be published with revisions and supplements from its first publication of 1921 to the 1930s. This research has its significance in that it first tried to understand not only the relationship of Sang-June, Lee’s Changgajip with his other publications but also the status and background of Korean modern music education materials through his music. In addition, this research analyzes the differences in comparisons between the Sang-June, Lee’s Changgajip and another Changgajip by Gak-Jong, Lee according to the fact that the same titled 『Changgajip(唱歌集) for Middle School with Organ Self-Study』 edited by Gak-Jong, Lee was published in 1913 before the Sang-June, Lee’s Changgajip.
