초록

본 논문은 이상의 시 「破片의景致―」(1931)와 손광주의 영화 「파편의 경치」(2007)에 나타난 두 ‘경치’ 이미지를 분석하고 이를 ‘감성적 사유’의 차원에서 조명하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이상의 시 「破片의景致―」(1931)는 「異常한可逆反應」 계열시 6편 가운데 하나로 ‘경치’의 원래 대상인 ‘자연’을 훼손하는 인공의 세계(현미경, 시계)와 근대적 이성의 한계를 폭로한다. ▽는 ‘전등, 나, 담배, 스틱크’ 등으로 변주되면서 자연이 파편화된 세계에서 똑같이 파편화되어 생식력을 잃고 무기력감에 빠져들기도 하고 그러한 현실로부터 탈주를 꿈꾸기도 하는 주체와 그의 신체의 모습을 은유한다. 「파편의경치―」는 ‘영원한 경치’를 지향하며 ‘기억’을 재구성함으로써 새롭게 ‘경치’ 이미지를 만들어 내는데 이는 ‘감정’을 ‘실천’하려는 시도와 결합되어 있다. 한편 이상의 시를 읽고 미적 의사소통을 통해 구성된 손광주의 영화 「파편의 경치」(2007)는 러닝타임 7분의 짧은 실험영화로 2000년대 초 미국 사회의 파편화된 현실을 그리고 있다. 「파편의 경치」는 이상의 시에서 강조된 근대적 현실의 파편화를 대도시에 자리 잡은 동물원과 시계를 통해 현대적 ‘경치’ 이미지로 변주한다. 또한 꽃 영상과 총격사건 인터뷰 사운드를 서로 이질적으로 결합시킴으로써 문명 안에 내재된 폭력성과 낯선 시간의 이미지를 제시한다. 이상이 신체를 억압하는 이성에 맞서 감정의 실천을 강조하는 주체를 직접적으로 형상화한 반면, 손광주는 시지각적, 음향적 기호들을 조합함으로써 관객 스스로 이전과 다르게 느끼고 반응하는 감정의 주체가 되도록 유도한다. 두 ‘경치’ 이미지는 시와 영화라는 장르적 차이는 있으나 이성적 사유 주체를 폐기하고 정신과 신체가 공명하는 ‘감성’이라는 새로운 사유로서의 이미지를 탄생시켰다는 점에서 주목될 필요가 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the image of two landscapes depicted in Lee Sang's poem 「Landscape of Fragments」(1931) and Son Kwang-Ju's film 「Fragmentary Landscapes」(2007) and highlight the image from an aspect of emotional thinking. Lee Sang's poem 「Landscape of Fragments」(1931), which is one of the six poems from a series of 「Leesanghan Gayeokbaneung (Weird Reversible Reaction)」, lays bare the problem of artificial world (microscope, clock) and modern rationality, which demolishes the original subject of landscape, that is, the nature. Inside a modern reality where the nature was fragmented, the subject similarly becomes fragmented and lethargic after losing reproductive power and sometimes dreams of escaping the reality. The poem describes him and the appearance of his body through a metaphor that varies in ‘lamp, me, cigarette, and stick.’ 「Landscape of Fragments」 newly creates the image of ‘landscape’ by recomposing memories about ‘permanent landscape,’ which is combined with an attempt to ‘practice’ the ‘emotion.’ Meanwhile, 「Fragmentary Landscapes」(2007) is a short experimental film with seven-minute running time that Son created through artistic interaction after reading Lee Sang's poem and it depicts fragmented reality of American society in early 2000s. The film transforms the problems of modern society that are emphasized in Lee Sang's poems into an image of ‘landscape’ using zoo, a clock that captures the metropolitan city, etc. By disparately mixing the flower image and interview sounds of shooting incident, the film presents violent nature inherent in civilization and an image of escaping from time. While Lee Sang directly projected the subject who puts emphasis on practicing emotions by fighting against the rationality, which oppresses body, Son guides the audience to become the main agent of emotions who constantly confront the ‘emotion’ to feel and react to it by combining visual-perceptual and acoustic symbols. Despite the genre difference of poem and film, the two pieces of ‘Landscape of Fragments’ deserve attention as they discarded the rational thinking agent and newly created ‘landscape’ image as a thinking named ‘emotion’ where body and soul resonate.
