초등학생 자녀를 둔 어머니의 진로지도에 영향을 미치는 사회적 역량과 자녀 학교생활 파악의 상호인과성 (The Effect of Bidirectional Associations Between Mothers’ Social Competence and Understanding of Their Elementary School Children’s School Life on the Career Guidance)

초록

이 연구는 어머니의 진로지도 행동에 대한 어머니의 사회적 역량과 자녀 학교생활 파악과의 상호인과성 및 이들의 영향력을 규명하는것을 목적으로 한다. 이러한 연구목적을 위하여, 서울대학교 학부모정책연구센터의 학부모교육참여패널 2∼4차 연도에 응답한 초등학생자녀를 둔 어머니 278명을 분석 대상으로 하였다. SPSS 26.0 프로그램과 R 4.2.0 프로그램을 사용하여 분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 자녀 학교생활 파악 정도는 대체로 높은 수준이며 자녀의 학년급 증가에 따른 변화가 없었다. 어머니의사회적 역량은 보통보다 약간 좋은 정도이며, 자녀의 학년급 증가에 따라 다소 감소하였다. 그리고 한 시점의 어머니의 사회적 역량과자녀 학교생활 파악은 각각 다음 시점의 사회적 역량과 자녀 학교생활 파악에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 초등학교 3학년과4학년 시기의 교차지연 효과는 통계적으로 유의한 반면, 초등학교 2학년과 3학년 시기의 교차지연 효과는 유의하지 않았다. 둘째, 초등학교 4학년 자녀를 둔 어머니의 진로지도 행동에 어머니의 사회적 역량과 자녀 학교생활 파악이 긍정적 영향력이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
이 연구는 어머니의 진로지도 및 개입 행동에 영향을 미치는 어머니 요인을 밝힘으로써 어머니의 진로지도를 도모하기 위해 고려해야할 요인과 관련 프로그램을 개발하는데 기초자료를 제공한 데 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This study aims to identify the interactive causality between mother’s social competence and understanding of their elementary school children’s school life in relation to the mother’s career guidance behavior. For this purpose of research, we used the data from the Panel Study of Korean Parental Educational Involvement. We analyzed 278 mothers of elementary school children who responded to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of the panel study. The analysis was performed using the SPSS 26.0 program and the R 4.2.0 program. The results of the study are as follows: First, the degree to which mother’s understanding of their children’s school life is generally high, and there has been no change in the increase in the grade level of their children. The mother’s social competence is slightly better than average, and has decreased with the increase in the grade level of the children. In addition, the mother’s understanding of the children’s school life and social competence at one point in time respectively affected the mother’s understanding of the children’s school life and social competence at the next point in time. On the other hand, the cross-lagged effect from the 2nd to 3rd grades of elementary school was statistically significant, while the cross-delay effect from 1st to 2nd grades of elementary school was not significant. Second, the career guidance behavior of mothers with children in grade 4 in elementary school showed that the mother’s social competence and understanding of her children’s school life had a positive link. This study identifies the reciprocal relationships between mother’s social competence and understanding of their elementary school children’s school life and the factors that influence mother’s career guidance. How to support the growth of mother’s career guidance is also discussed.
