헤테로토피아와 알레고리적 장소의시학적 연관성에 대한 소론－김명인의 시집 『東豆川』의 경우 (A Study on the Poetic Connection between Heterotopia and Allegoric Locality: An Instance of Kim Myung-In’s Poetical Collection Dongducheon)

초록

헤테로토피아(heterotopia)는 자본 권력이 행사하는 공간의 통제와 기획에 맞서 유토피아적 공간을 ‘현실’에 실현하려는 ‘대항담론’이라는 점에서 근대의 공간-장소 분석에 특별한 의미를 제공한다. 헤테로토피아가 현실, 특히 문학 작품에 작동하는 고유의 방식은 알레고리적 사유를 통해서 드러날 수밖에 없는데, 그 이유는 ‘대항담론’이라는 역사적 성격 때문이다. 본고가 근대의 공간-장소 분석을 헤테로토피아와 알레고리라는 개념에 근거해 설명하려는 이유는 실존들이 겪는 소외와 억압의 하중이 ‘정치·경제적’ 측면보다 ‘장소적’ 측면에 더 깊게 각인되기 때문이다. 장소의 실존적 맥락은 자기보존욕구(conatus)에 의해 형성된다. 자기보존욕구란 장소 박탈에 맞서는 장소 회복의 의지로 설명될 수 있으며, 이는 현실에 유토피아적 장소를 구현하려는 헤테로토피아적 의지와 상통하는 것으로 이해할 수 있다.
본고는 대항담론으로서의 헤테로토피아가 역사에 대한 알레고리적 사유를 동반할 수밖에 없다는 논거를 미셸 푸코와 앙리 르페브르가 언급한 헤테로토피아의 특징과 발터 벤야민의 알레고리론을 통해 제시하고, 그러한 논거를 바탕으로 김명인의 시집 『東豆川』에 나타난 ‘헤테로토피아적 특징을 장소 박탈과 장소 회복이라는 측면을 통해 규명하고자 한다. 김명인 시에 나타난 ‘고아원’, ‘학교’, ‘포주집’ 등은 개인과 역사의 아픔이 결절(結節)된 수난의 장소들이라 할 수 있다. 결절된 장소들이 배치된 ‘동두천’은 유년의 장소적 체험과 역사적 상흔이 알레고리화된 장소이면서, 일상의 장소가 아닌 ‘다른’(heteros) 장소, 즉 실존 회복의 염원이 내포된 헤테로토피아적 장소라는 점에서 각별한 의미를 지닌다 할 수 있는데, 그것을 ‘일탈의 헤테로토피아와 장소의 패닉’, ‘거울의 헤테로토피아와 혼혈(混血)의 알레고리’라는 주제를 통해 분석하고자 한다.
본 연구의 목적은 김명인의 시적 세계가 역사적 수난과 실존의 근원성을 동시적으로 포착해내는 ‘알레고리적 리얼리즘’에 입각해 있다는 것을 밝히는데 있으며, 그러한 결과를 도출하기 위해 적용한 ‘헤테로토피아와 알레고리적 장소의 시학적 연관성’이라는 소론이 한국 현대시의 공간-장소 분석의 다양화에 일조할 것으로 기대한다.

영어초록

As a ‘counter-discourse’ aiming to embody an utopian space in ‘reality’ against the capital power’s spatial control and project, heterotopia gives a particular significance to the analysis of modern space-locality. The peculiar mode of heterotopia operating on reality, especially on literary works, is forced to appear in allegoric thought. For the ‘counter-discourse’ is a historical trait of heterotopia. Since the weights of elimination and pressure on existences have been inscribed more deeply in ‘spatial’ than ‘political and economical’ aspects, the analysis of modern space-locality is to be explained on the notions of heterotopia and allegory. The conatus makes the existential context of locality. As a will to regain a locality against depriving of it, the conatus is able to be in common with the heterotopian will to embody an utopian locality in reality.
Through the traits of heterotopia such as Michel Foucault and Henri Lefebvre mentioned and Walter Benjamin’s theory of allegory, this study presents the basis of an argument that the allegoric thought on history must accompany heterotopia, and tries, on this basis, to illuminate the heterotopian traits of Kim Myung-In’s Dongducheon in aspects of the deprived and regained localities. The objects such as ‘orphanage,’ ‘school,’ and ‘pimp’s nest’ in Kim Myung-In’s poetry are the suffered localities of the knotted personal and historical pains. The city ‘Dongducheon’ where the knotted localities have been configured is not only a locality where the local experiences and historical scars in the poet’s childhood had been allegorized but also a ‘heteros’ locality where had been not the everyday locality but the heterotopian locality involving the wish for existential restoration. In this respect, the city has a particular significance to be analyzed in this study through the subjects of the ‘deviant heterotopia and local panic’ and ‘mirrored heterotopia and half-breed allegory.’ With the purpose of stating that the basis of Kim Myung-In’s poetry is the ‘allegoric realism’ to catch simultaneously the historical sufferings and the existential rootedness, this study is expected to take part in diversifying the analyses of space-locality of Korean modern poetry.
