아랍을 바라보는 스페인의 두 얼굴: 모리스꼬 로만세를 중심으로 (A Study on Dual Face of Spain in front of Arab: Focused on El Romancero Morisco)

초록

이 논문에서 연구대상으로 삼은 모리스꼬 로만세에는 스페인 내에서 무어인들이 느끼는 정체성의 혼란과 자기 정체성 유지를 위해 갈등하고 투쟁한 흔적들이 나타나있다. 모리스꼬 로만세가 그 명맥을 유지할 수 있었던 이유는 잊혀져가는 정체성의 재발견이라는 민족적, 종교적 사명감이 근저에 깔려있고, 기독교적 요소와 이교도적 요소가 공존하면서 ‘꼰비벤시아(convivencia)’ 곧, 상생이라는 중세스페인 역사의 진정성을 보여주기 때문으로 사료된다. 이번 연구에서는 스페인의 전통성과 대중성을 대표하는 문학 장르 중 하나인 로만세로의 모리스꼬 참여가 스페인 대중문화 속에 녹아있는 이슬람적 요소의 전파와 기독교적 문화와의 융합에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 무슬림이나 모리스꼬와 관련 있는 로만세를 시기적으로 레꽁끼스따(국토재정복)가 진행되던 당시, 기독교도와 이슬람교도 간의 접전이 벌어진 국경지대에서 불려진 로만세, 일명 ‘국경지대의 로만세로(romancero fronterizo)’와 레꽁끼스따가 끝나고 알푸하라스(Alpujaras) 모리스꼬 반란이 일어난 시기에 지어졌거나, 이 사건을 소재로 한 모리스꼬 로만세로 나누어 살펴보았다. 각 시기마다 내용에 있어서 차이를 보이는데 전자의 경우는 기독교도와 무슬림 교도 간의 치열한 전투의 장면을 생생하게 묘사하면서 무슬림 전사의 용맹스러움을 강조하고, 후자의 경우는 모리스꼬 출신의 뻬레스 데 이따(Pérez de Hita)의 역사소설에 삽입된 ‘모리스꼬 로만세로(Romancero morisco)에서는 아랍적 전통과 관습에 대한 향수를 보여준다. 그리고 황금세기 작가 중에서 모리스꼬 로만세 창작에 참여했던 로뻬 데 베가의 작품에서는 모리스꼬에 대한 반영웅적 이미지를 강조하여 모리스꼬의 추방을 정당화하고자 하는 당시 일부 정치가들의 프로파간다성을 보여준다. 동시에 작품에 나타나고 있는 모리스꼬의 입을 통해 모리스꼬 개인에 대한 이해와 당시 스페인의 현실을 무시한 채, 피의 순수성 신화에 사로잡혀 모리스꼬 추방에 앞장 선 아랍혐오주의자들을 패러디한다.

영어초록

This article is related to el romance morisco and to collective unconscious of Spanish about muslim and its descendant “morisco”. The morofobia has decisive effect on immigration policy of Arab. Today, The morofobia is connected to the terror or threat of “Islamic State”. There has been dispute between morofobia and morofilia since the expulsion of Morisco in 1609. After the Reconquista of Reyes Católicos, moriscos created el romance in order to keep their religious or linguistic identity. In this article, Romances moriscos are classified into four categories chronically: First, Romance of moriscos in the midst of Reconquista, in other names, Border Romance (“Romancero fronterizo”) Second, Romance of moriscos between the Reconquista and Rebellion of Alpujarras(1568-71), Third, Romance of moriscos after Alpujarras, Forth, Romance of moriscos or Comedia of Lope de Vega. In the first poem, author describes the vivid battle in the frontier of Granada between muslims and christians. In the second, now that Reconquista was completed, character is described mystically such as that of medieval chivalry instead of bravery of muslim soldiers or conversion of muslim by Reconquista. In the third, after the rebellion of Alpujarras and its defeat, in Romance of Pérez de Hita, love triangle and individual psychological description stand out. In addition, there appeared romance in full of nostalgia of arabic culture and tradition. Although Arab was no more opponent of Spain after the defeat of Alpujarras, making an issue of expulsion of moriscos in Felipe III, some islamaphobic writers incited people to justify the exile. On the contrary, the morisco writers such as Pérez de Hita made an emphasis on bringing back the nobility of the millennial Islamic kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula. Lastly, in the Romance and Comedia of Lope de Vega, we discovered a double face toward expulsion of moriscos: maurophilia(morofilia) and maurophobia(morofobia). In this sense of the word, the characters of morisco in the popular literature such as Romance demonstrate a confusion and conflict of self-identity in the process of acculturation. At the same time writers intend to expose distorted and blinkered maurophobia of spanish who were tinctured with “Purity of Blood”.
