초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of parental involvement in education and academic motivation of early adolescents on adolescents' quality of friendship depending on their gender. Subjects of this study consisted of 767 adolescents drawn from 3 middle schools located in Chungbuk province. The main results are as follows:
First, there was difference in parental involvement in education, including parent's press for adolescents' academic achievement, academic support, and conflict with their children due to academic factors according to early adolescents' gender, parent's socio-economic level. Second, early adolescents' academic motivation, including their mastery, performance-avoidance, and performance-approach goals and academic self-efficacy, was different from their gender, parent's socio-economic level. Third, there was difference in early adolescents' quality of friendship that consisted of positive, negative, and delinquent friendship according to their gender and parent's educational background. Fourth, parental involvement in education and adolescents' academic motivation predicted their positive, negative and delinquent friendship depending on their gender.
