가상현실(VR) 서비스 활성화를 위한 숏폼 동영상 콘텐츠 적용 연구 (A Study of Applications on Short-Form Video Content for Activation of Virtual Reality (VR))

초록

오늘날 실감 미디어의 주요 기술로 각광받고 있는가상현실(VR)은 미디어, 교육, 게임, 엔터테인먼트 등다양한 분야에서 활용이 기대되고 있으나 높은 현존감을 위해 필수적인 HMD가 콘텐츠 사용자에게 생리적⋅심리적 문제를 불러오고 있어 이를 해결하기 위한 콘텐츠 개발 방안이 필요한 시점이다. 이에 본 연구는 VR 영상 서비스의 활성화와 문제 해결을 위해콘텐츠 개발 관점에서 짧은 시간의 숏폼 영상을 방안으로 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 이론적 고찰과 선행연구 분석을 통해 연구에 적용할 VR서비스의 현황및 문제점, 최근 영상 콘텐츠 트렌드로 주목받고 있는숏폼 콘텐츠의 개념을 살펴보고자 하였다. 고찰한 내용을 바탕으로 숏폼 동영상 콘텐츠의 유형을 커뮤니케이션-담론형, 커뮤니케이션-대화형, 크리에이티브- 상향식, 크리에이티브-하향식으로 분류하였으며, VR 의 콘텐츠 평가요소로 현존감. 몰입감, 상호작용성을도출하였다. 20-30대 성인남녀 68을 대상으로 숏폼 동영상 콘텐츠 유형별 VR요인 선호도 조사를 실시한결과, 각 유형의 특성에 따라 선호하는 VR 요인이 다르게 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다. 현재 VR서비스는하드웨어를 중심으로 빠르게 발전되는 반면, 장시간착용 시 나타나는 피로감 및 멀미 등의 문제점이 지속적으로 제기되고 있다. 따라서 사용자 입장에서 VR 의 특성을 살려 즐길 수 있는 콘텐츠의 개발이 빠르게 이루어져야 하는 시점이며, 특히 소비자들이 좋아하는 세태를 분석하여 그들의 니즈에 부합한 콘텐츠중심의 연구가 지속되어야 한다.

영어초록

Virtual Reality (VR), which has been in the limelight as a major technology of realistic media today, is expected to be used in various fields, including media, education, games, entertainment, etc., while HMD, being required to realize a greater sense of presence, causes physiological and psychological problems to users of the content, so that there is a need to come up with plans for content development to solve those problems. Therefore, in order to activate a VR video service and solve problems resulting from it, this study aimed to present short-form videos for a short period of time as a solution from the viewpoint of content development. For this, it tried to examine the concept of short-form content, which has recently attracted attention as a trend of video content, in addition to the current status and problems of a VR service to be applied in this study through theoretical consideration and analysis of previous studies. Based on that consideration, it classified the types of short-form video content into a communication-discourse type, a communication-interactive type, a creative-bottom-up type, and lastly a creativetow- down type and derived factors for evaluation of VR content as follows: a sense of presence, a sense of immersion, and interactivity. According to the survey on the preference of VR factors for each type of short-form video content with 68 adult men and women in their 20s and 30s, it has been confirmed that their preferred VR factors differ depending on the characteristics of each type. Currently, a VR service is developing at a rapid pace, centering on hardware, but various problems, such as fatigue, motion sickness, etc., that occur when users wear the equipment for a long time continue to be raised.
Therefore, it is time to quickly develop content that users can enjoy comfortably while making the best use of the characteristics of VR, and, in particular, various studies should continue to be carried out, focusing on content that aligns with the needs of consumers, by analyzing their preferred trends.
