초록

『東省校餘集』은 1813∼1814년 정조의 어제 편찬을 담당한 규장각 관료들이 함께 수창한 시를 수록한 시집이다. 수록된 시들의 창작 정황을 살펴보면, 19세기 문인들의 문예 취향이 반영된 요소들이 다수 포착된다. 그중에서도 연꽃 花柄과 盆池 완상, 그리고 화훼를 매개로 한 墨戱는 19세기 발달한 원예 취미를 업무 공간에서 틈틈이 향유하며 심미적 욕구를 해소한 대표적인 사례이다.
화병 속 연꽃과 墨竹은 이들에게 최상의 淸淨과 剛直을 지닌 존재로 묘사되며 이들이 지향하는 高雅의 미감에 가장 부합한 소재였다. 나아가 이상적인 관직자의 표상이자 규장각 관료로서 집단의식을 상징하는 이미지로 지속적으로 활용되었다. 분지를 완상한 시에서는 궁궐의 냇물을 담아 더욱 청량하고 신성한 연못의 이미지를 형성하였고, 그 안에서 헤엄치는 붕어의 모습을 세밀하게 묘사하였다. 이 과정에서 다수의 문인이 물길을 거슬러 뛰어오르는 잉어의 포부와 큰 바다를 날아가는 붕새의 이미지를 연상하였다. 이와 같은 높고 씩씩한 기상의 시풍은 조정과 왕실의 治化로 태평성세를 이루리란 축원이 담겨있다. 『동성교여집』의 연꽃 화병과 분지 시는 19세기 문예 취향과 관각적 특성이 결합하여 규장각 신료들의 기상을 높이고 조정쇄신의 분위기를 형성하고 있다. 이는 홍경래의 난이 진압된 직후 조정 분위기의 쇄신이 필요했던 정치적 상황과 연관이 있다.
이후 헌종대에 순조와 익종의 어제를 정리ㆍ편찬하던 관각문인들도 『동성교여집』에 차운하고 이들의 풍류를 계승하려는 의지를 보인 점에서, 『동성교여집』은 19세기 관각문인의 전통을 계승하는 상징성이 담긴 시집이었다.

영어초록

“Dongseonggyoyeo-jip(東聖校餘集)” is a collection of poems written by Gyujanggak(奎章閣) bureaucrats who were in charge of compiling the anthology of King Jeongjo(正祖) in 1813-1814. Looking at the creation situation of the included poems, many elements that reflect the literary taste of 19th century writers are captured. They put a lotus flower in a vase and enjoyed watching it, and unwrapped a strange-shaped stone and carp in a water vase to enjoy viewing it. And they enjoyed a brief break from work while drawing lotus, pine tree, and bamboo in ink and writing poetry. These activities are a representative example of intermittently enjoying the hobby of gardening, which was popular in the 19th century, in a work space and solving aesthetic needs.
The lotus flower in the vase and the bamboo painted with ink are portrayed as beings with the highest level of purity(淸淨) and strength(剛直), and they were the material most suitable for the noble and elegant aesthetic sense that is distinguished from the secular. Furthermore, they were continuously used as an image symbolizing the collective consciousness as a symbol of an ideal official and a Gyujanggak bureaucrat. In the poem that perfected bowl Pond, the image of a more refreshing and sacred pond was formed by containing the stream of the palace, and the appearance of the crucian carp swimming in it was described in detail. At this time, in many of the works, the aspirations of a carp that jumps up the waterway through a crucian carp and an imaginary bird that flies across the great sea were reminded. The poetic style of such a high and courageous spirit contains the expectation that age of great peace and plenty will be achieved through benevolent politics of the court and royal family.
“Dongseonggyoyeo-jip”’s lotus vase and fish bowl poems combine the 19th-century taste in literature with the characteristics of bureaucratic literature to contribute to the high spirits of the Gyujanggak cabinet and the atmosphere of adjustment and renewal of the court. The idea of poetry as such is related to the political situation that required a change in the mood of the court immediately after the suppression of the Hong Gyeong- rae rebellion. Also, in that the Gwangak literati who organized and compiled the royal records of king Sunjo and prince Ikjong in the king Heonjong era, borrowed and followed letter-rhymes from “Dongseonggyoyeo- jip”, showing their will to inherit the contemporary arts, “Dongseonggyoyeo- jip” was a collection of poems containing symbolism that inherited the tradition of bureaucratic literature in the 19th century.
