동아시아의 뱀신랑 유형 민담에 관한 비교고찰 -일본의「언니와 동생」유형을 중심으로- (The Comparative study of the “Snake-husband” narratives in East Asia)

蛇婿入り類型に関する既存の研究、特に韓中日比較研究は主に「夜来者」 説話の相互比較が多い傾向があった。そこで、本稿では日本の「姉と妹」類 型の民譚を中心に、韓国の「グロンドンドンドンシンソンビ」と中国の「蛇 婿入り」をそれぞれ比較分析した。「グロンドンドンドンシンソンビ」の下位類型は四種類で、この中、動物の姿をした新郎と末娘が結婚して、新郎が 人間の姿になって幸せに暮したというの内容の基本形は日本の「田螺息子」 類型とその構成が酷似する。一方、「グロンドンドンドンシンソンビ」の完 結型の場合、基本形の内容以後の弟を妬んだお姉さんが新郎から受けたタ ブーを破り、妹が夫と再結合するために苦難と難題を乗り越えて行く内容は 日本の「姉と妹」類型の構成と大局的に一致する。但し、二つの説話の詳細 的な内容においては、「グロンドンドンドンシンソンビ」はタブーの破綻と 克服、「姉と妹」は因果応報に其々焦点が合わせられており、これによって その他の要素でも異同が見受けられる。また、中国の「蛇婿入り」説話は、 日本の「姉と妹」類型と基本的な構造はもとより、詳細的なモチーフまで酷 似しているのが確認できた。親に援助を与えた新郎と末娘が婚姻し、これを 妬んだお姉さんが妹を殺して彼女の代わりをして、妹は鳥を始め何回の転生 を経て、終極には夫婦が再結合するのである。但し、親が受けた援助の内 容、妹を殺すお姉さんの序列などの詳細的な部分では両者間に若干の異同が 見受けられた。

영어초록

Previous studies on “Snake-husband” narratives, especially comparative studies between Korea, China and Japan mostly tend to be a comparative study on the types of “husband coming at night”. Hence this paper analyses Japanese forktale, older and younger sister, as compared with Gurongdongdong Sinsonbi of Korea and Snake Husband of China respectively. Since the national comparison of forktales naturally leads to discussion on the types, this paper aims to broaden the depth and perspective of the comparison by comparing the relatively unknown Japanese forktale, older and younger sister, with “Snake husband” narratives of Korea and China.
Gurongdongdong Sinsonbi in the collection of Korean oral literature can be divided into four subtypes. Among them, the basic form in which the groom with the appearance of animal married a youngest daughter, then assumed the human form, and they lived happily ever after has the same structure as Mud Snail Son of Japan.
On the other hand, after the ending of the basic form, the completion type of Gurongdongdong Sinsonbi has the additory story in which the sisters feeling jealous of their younger sister broke the taboo from the groom and the younger sister overcame adversities and hardships for reunion with her husband. In that regard, It shares its story frame with older and younger sister of Japan. But In details, Gurongdongdong Sinsonbi focuses on the violation of taboo and overcoming, whereas older and younger sister focuses on punitive justice. Accordingly those two forktales has differences in other elements.
The snake husband is similar to older and younger sister in structure as well as detailed motif. That is, the groom who has provided aid to the parents married younger daughter, the older sister who felt jealous killed her younger sister and lived her sister’s life, afterward the younger sister was reunited with her husband through several reincarnation including a bird. There are, however, differences in the detailslike content of aid, rank of the sister who killed her younger sister between Japanese forktale and Chinese’.
In this study, I compared and analysed Gurongdongdong Sinsonbi of Korea and Snake Husband with older and younger sister. From the comprehensive perspective, I could verify that Snake Husband has a deep affinity with older and younger sister in comparison with Gurongdongdong Sinsonbi because it is similar to older and younger sister in composition. However, it is noteworthy that the basic form of Gurongdongdong Sinsonbi has a similar composition with Mud Snail Son of Japan.
