마을 단위 전승지식의 전달체계와 학교 연계교육의 지역화 전략 - 진주시 대평면 수몰지역의 집돌음 농악을 중심으로 - (Localization Strategy for School Connected Education and Transmission System of Traditional Folk Knowledge at Village Level)

초록

전통마을이 갈수록 사라져 가고 있는 현실에서 전통사회의 전승지식을 후속세대로 어떻게 전달할 수 있는지 그 방법을 고민하면서 연구가 비롯되었다. 연구의 대상지로는 진양호로 인하여 수몰된 남강 상류 지역인 진주시 대평면 일대이다. 조상 대대로 가꾸어 왔던 삶의 터전을 대부분 물속에 묻어 버리고 이주를 할 수밖에 없는 처지에 이른 고장이다. 그러나 수몰 원주민들은 현재 삶터를 빼앗기고 피땀으로 일구어 온 논밭을 물속에 버려야 하는절망 속에서도 고향 언저리에 남아 선대부터 가꾸어 왔던 마을유산과 전승지식을 지켜가고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 전통사회에서 전수되던 마을 단위 전승지식의 전달체계를 검토하여 전승 환경이 바뀐 현대사회에서 어떻게 수용할지 그 방법론을 살피는데 있다. 전승지식은 마을 공동체 내에서 생산되고 소비되며 축적되어 온 역사적 생명력을 지닌 문화적 가치이다. 옛 사람들이 마을 단위에서 전승시켜 온 전통문화를 오늘날 우리 시대에 맞게끔잘 가꾸어 쓰기 위해서는 교육과 학습이라는 전달체계가 필요하다. 마을 단위의 전승지식은 어깨너머로 넘겨가며 세대에서 세대로 전달되었고 역사가 되고 전통이 되었다. 수몰지역 사람들은 그들의 조상들이 수천 년간 살아왔고 그들이 수백 년 가꾸었던 마을이 물에잠긴 경험을 공유하였고 이로 인하여 옛 마을문화에 대한 추억과 기억의 보전이 중요한 과제가 되었다. 결국 마을 내부 구성원들의 위상 변동과 더불어 수몰 이전 대물림된 선대의전승지식을 새 터전에서 가꿀 수 있도록 전달체계를 전환하였다. 마을유산의 전승지식은사회 구성원들에 의하여 의도된 인지체계 속에서 집단 행위로 공유되었다. 새로 마련된 터전과 전승 환경에서 집돌음 농악을 재맥락화시켰으며, 외부의 농악 가락이나 놀이를 결코받아들이지 않았고, 새로운 전승체계를 작동시켜 사회통합을 강조하였고 지역 정체성을공고히 하였다. 전달체계의 운용 방식은 전승지식을 습득․창출할 수 있는 자율적 학습체계를 구축하고, 이를 통해 소질 있는 인물을 양성하고 보존․전승하는 주체를 만들어 관리하는 형태로 이루어진다. 이주한 마을의 거점 학교에서 자라고 있는 후속세대들에게 전승지식을 전달하기 위해서는 현실적 교육 시스템을 구축하고 지역화 학습의 전략을 세워야한다. 전승지식을 활용한 학교 연계교육의 추진 형태는 지역 거점 학교 학생들이 마을로직접 들어가서 어른들의 어깨너머로 학습하는 방식과 마을유산의 전승지식 보유자가 학교현장에 직접 찾아가서 교육을 수행하는 방문교육의 형태가 있다. 교육의 지역화가 효율적으로 수행되기 위해서는 마을 단위에서 생산된 전승지식이 학교 현장의 교과과정에 편입될 수 있어야 한다. 또 지역의 교육적 자원과 자료가 최대한 활용되어야 하며, 지역 거점학교의 적극적인 참여가 필요하다. 결국 전승현장의 변화와 교육 환경의 개선에 능동적으로 대처하기 위해서는 전승지식을 전달하는 방식과 체계의 혁신적 변화가 요망된다.

영어초록

The subject of this study is the area of Daepyeong-myeon, Jinju-si, which is the upstream area of Namgang, submerged due to Jinyang-ho. Even under the despair where they were ripped off of their sites of livelihood and had to give up the fields and paddies they worked on with blood and sweat, the residents of the submerged area have stayed near the hometown and preserved the village heritage and knowledge passed down from previous generations. This study aims to review the transmission system of traditional folk knowledge at village level and examine the methodology regarding how to accommodate such in the modern society. The traditional folk knowledge is a cultural value with historical vitality produced, consumed, and accumulated within the village community. In order to adapt and use the traditional culture passed down from generations at village level so that it suits our times today, it is necessary to have a transmission system of education and learning. The traditional folk knowledge at village level has become history and tradition as it has been passed down from generation to generation over the shoulders. The delivery system has been changed so as to cultivate the traditional folk knowledge in a new site, which has been passed down according to the changes in status of the village members. The traditional folk knowledge of village heritage was developed inside the cognition system intended by the members of the society. The Jipdoleum-Nongak was re-contextualized in the newly established site and inheritance environment, and external Nongak melodies or plays were not incorporated at all, and a new transmission system was activated to enhance the social integration and give efforts towards the maintenance of the system.
The transmission system was executed such that the autonomous learning system to obtain/create traditional folk knowledge was constructed, and the capable human resources were trained and managed through such system. In order to transfer the traditional folk knowledge to the descendent generations growing at the base schools of the relocated village, it is necessary to establish a realistic education system and the localization learning strategy. The promotion form of school connection education utilizing traditional folk knowledge spans the one where the students of the local base school students directly go to the town and learning over the shoulders of the adults, or the one where the transmitter of the traditional folk knowledge of village heritage goes to the school site in person and conducts education in a visiting education format.
In order to perform the localization of the education efficiently, a local education process must be developed, and the school-level education process must be reconstructed. Also, the local educational resources and data should be utilized as much as possible, and the active participation by the base school is necessary. After all, in order to respond to the changes in the inheritance site and the improvement of the education environment, an innovative change in the system and the method of transferring traditional folk knowledge is required.
