초록

본 논문은 조선조 18세기 전후, 문신이자 서화가로 활동한 이재 권돈인 서화의 논리구조와 그 속에 구현된 심미의경에 대해 유가적인 측면에서 고찰하고 그의 서화미학의 지향을 밝히는 데 그 뜻을 두고 있다.
이재는 정통관료로서 평생을 仕宦의 길에 있었기 때문에 정치ㆍ사회ㆍ문화 등 전체에 대해 책임의식을 지니는 유가 문인의 전통 정신에 따라 수기치인의 소명의식을 가지고 당시 정계와 학ㆍ예계를 교정하고자 했다. 이는 백성에 대한 務實의 정신과 학ㆍ예술에 대한 고뇌로 나타난다. 그의 예술세계는 경세지향적인 士氣精神으로 일관한다. 또한 時宜에 알맞은 學行一道의 比德精神을 중시하고 淸健高雅의 雅趣美로 구현된다.
따라서 이재의 예서는 ‘<景君碑>와 <白石碑>, 兩碑의 체도’라는 법고적 전통요소와 ‘팔목아래 스스로 재량한’ 창신적 창작요소가 합일된 神合의 경지를 이루어 낸다. 행서는 천부적인 재능에 노력을 더한 결과, 동기창의 품격 있는 서예와 비견될 정도로 ‘필세가 매우 고아하고 굳센 맛이 돋보인다. 그가 그린 문인화 역시 담박하면서도 섬세하게 마른 붓의 묘미를 살려 일정한 법도적 격식과 기법을 넘어서는 소산간원의 담박미 의경을 잘 구현해 내고 있다.
결국 그가 구현해낸 서화의 아취미, 담박미의 심미의경은 품덕의 고상함 등 정신적 경지의 고원함이 조화를 이루고 있는 그의 인품과 일치되고 있다. 이는 곧 이재서화미학만의 總和이며 寶庫라 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This paper has the meaning aimed to look into the Confucian Aesthetics logical structure and the embodied aesthetic light in the logic and to reveal the aim of calligraphy aesthetics of Yi Jae Don-in Kwon who had been a civil official as well as a paintings and calligraphic worker around 18th century of Joseon Dynasty.
As Yi Jae walked the way of an orthodox official for his life, he sought to correct politics, science and art area of the time according to the traditional spirit of Confucian civil official who had a sense of responsibility for the whole of such as politics, society and culture with the vocation awareness of the Soo-gi-chi-in (govern others by self-cultivation). It appears as the spirit of pursue to be truthful for the people and the anguish at science and art. His art world is also consistently oriented toward spirit of morale governing. It is directly emphasized by the spirit of comparing virtues of learning and acting is equal adequate to the time and realized by the aesthetics of simplicity of clear and strong aesthetics. Therefore, Yeseo of Yi Jae achieved the stage of unity with god unified by traditional elements of emulating the old of 'following the Tao of both headstones of <Gyung Gun Headstone (景君碑)> and <Baek Seok Headstone (白石碑)> with creative elements created by 'self-discrete under the cuff'. The Haengseo, as the result of efforts in addition to the endowed talents, is comparable to the elegant calligraphy of Dong Qichang with innate spirit of heaven with taste of aesthetic and strong in a stroke of the brush. His Literary Artists' Paintings also implemented light of simple and pure beauty of So San Gan Won well beyond certain formalities and techniques of custom by revealing attraction of dry brush delicately. Eventually, the aesthetic light of the beauty of elegance and the beauty of simplicity of paintings and calligraphic works he realized is matched with his personality in harmony with nobleness of spiritual stage such as nobleness of personality of virtue. This can be said as the total harmony and the repository of the calligraphy aesthetics of Yi Jae.
