『正易』의 易道 표상체계 고찰 (A study on the symbol system of the moral doctrineof changes in Zhengyi)

초록

본 논문은 『주역』의 易道 표상체계를 근거로 『정역』의 역도 표상체계에 대하여 고찰하였다. 『정역』은 선진역학과 전혀 다른 새로운 역학이 아니라, 『주역』의 「說卦」와 「繫辭」의 내용을 근거로 正易八卦圖와 360일 正曆 등을 밝히고 있는 한국역학이다.
『주역』은 數理인 河圖․洛書와 卦象인 八卦圖와 64괘를 중심으로 표상하고 있다면, 『정역』은 하도․낙서와 天干․地支의 數理와 正易八卦圖를 새롭게 劃卦하고 있다. 따라서 『주역』과 『정역』은 하도․낙서를 같이 논하면서, 『주역』은 六爻重卦인 64괘를 위주로 밝히고 있다면, 『정역』은 천간과 지지를 밝히고 있다. 물론 『주역』에도 天干과 地支가 있고, 『정역』에도 六爻重卦에 대한 언급이 있다.
『정역』의 역도 표상체계를 정리하면, 먼저 『주역』의 「설괘」 제6장을 근거로 ‘정역팔괘도’를 그음으로써 易學史의 새로운 길을 열게 되었다. 正易八卦圖는 10數 八卦圖로 음양이 합덕된 세계를 표상하고 있으며, 八卦의 방향이 밖에서 안으로 향해 있고, 六爻重卦의 의미를 가지고 있다.
또한 河圖와 洛書에서는 「계사상」 제9장에서 논한 360일 朞數를 근거로 河圖는 體五用六으로 도생역성의 작용을 하고, 낙서는 體十用九로 역생도성의 작용임을 논하였다. 또 하도는 후천에서 작용하는 선천이고, 낙서는 선천에서 작용하는 후천이라 하여, 선후천의 문제로 논하고 있다.
다음으로 天干과 地支에서는 『주역』에서 논하지 않는 五行과 數를 직접 밝히고 있다. 天干을 生과 成작용으로 논하여, 五行의 相生․相剋이 아니라 相生과 相成(相極)의 이치를 밝히고 있다. 또 지지에서는 五行을 넘어서서 작용의 입장에서 河圖의 用六작용과 洛書의 用九작용을 논하고 있다. 특히 지지의 未를 10土가 아니라 8木으로 새롭게 해석하고 있다.
본 논문은 『정역』의 학문적 연구를 위해 기존의 논의된 내용을 정리하면서 새롭게 접근하려는 시도이다. 본문에서 고찰한 내용은 『정역』의 기본적인 체계에 관한 것으로, 앞으로 더 깊은 연구를 위한 출발이라 하겠다.

영어초록

This paper examined the symbol system of the moral doctrine of changes in Zhengyi based on the system for representation of the I-Ching. Zhengyi is not a new Science of Changes that is completely different from advanced I-Ching; it is a Korean version of the I-Ching that reveals ‘Zhengyi’s Eight Trigram(正易八卦圖)’ and ‘360 Days Zhengyi’ based on the contents of Shuogua(說卦) and the first volume of Xici(繫辭) of the I-Ching.
I-Ching is mainly represented by Hetu-Luoshu which is the system of numbers, images comprising eight trigrams and 64 diagrams(64卦), which is the system of trigrams from the Book of Changes. Zhengyi on the other hand represents the I-Ching by drawing Hetu-Luoshu, the logic of numbers in Celestial Stem and Chinese Zodiac signs in addition to newly incorporating ‘Zhengyi’s eight trigrams’.
Therefore, although the I-Ching and Zhengyi have discussions in common with Hetu-Luoshu, the I-Ching mainly discusses the 64 diagrams, whereas Zhengyi reveals the Celestial Stem and Chinese Zodiac signs. Of course, there are also Celestial Stem and Chinese Zodiac signs in the I-Ching, and there is a reference to 64 diagrams in Zhengyi too.
While organizing the symbol system of the moral doctrine of changes in Zhengyi, this research opened a new route of I-Ching history. This was achieved by drawing ‘Zhengyi’s Eight Trigram’ based on Shuogua’s Chapter 6 of the I-Ching. ‘Zhengyi’s Eight Trigram’ as 10 eight trigrams represents the perfectly balanced world of Yin and Yang, and the direction of the eight trigrams heads for the inside from the outside, and has the meaning of 64 diagrams.
In addition, based on the 360-day basic number discussed in the first volume of Xici Chapter 9, Hetu is the main body number 5 and action number 6 (體五用六), which acts as Dosaeng-yeogseong(倒生逆成). It is considered that Luoshu is the main body number 10 and action number 9 (體十用九) and acts as Yeogsaeng-doseong(逆生倒成). Also, it is discussed a problem of Front Heaven(先天). that Hetu is Front Heaven acting in the Rear Heaven(後天), and Luoshu is Rear Heaven acting in the Front Heaven.
Next, while studying the Celestial Stem(天干) and Chinese Zodiac(地支) signs, it was found that they correlated directly with the Five Elements and numbers that are not discussed in the I-Ching. It showed that Celestial Stem was discussed as acts of a birth and growth, and this reveals the reason for the relationship between coexistence and co-growth, not the coexistence and conflict of the Five Elements. In treatises on Chinese Zodiac signs, there are discussions about action number 6 of Hetu and action number 9 of Luoshu from the standpoint of action beyond the Five Elements. In particular, the meaning of ‘Mi(未)’ in Chinese Zodiac signs was interpreted as 8 tree(八木) instead of 10 earth(十土).
This thesis is an attempt to summarize the previously discussed content and to approach it as a starting point for academic exploration of Zhengyi. The content discussed in this paper is fundamental to understanding Zhengyi, and there is dire need for further study.
