평안도 굿 전승자료 몇 가지 (Reporting Materials in the Transmission Process of Pyeongan Provincial Shamanic Ritual)

초록

평안도 굿이라 함은 한국동란을 전후하여 월남한 평안도 무당, 악사, 단골들이 남한 땅에서 전승하여온 평안도 식 굿을 말한다. 본 자료는 한국동란 때 남한으로 월남하여 평안도 굿을 전승하였던 무당과 악사들의 구술와 그들의 굿자료들을 바탕으로작성한 것이다. 본 자료를 통해 평안도 굿의 주요 맥락을 짚어보고 전승 현장을 파악하고자 한다. 그리고 이 자료가 평안도 굿에 관심 있는 연구자들에게 조금이라도 기초적 자료가 되길 바란다. 자료에서 다루어지고 있는 내용은 남한에서의 평안도 굿전승, 남한에서 활동한 평안도 굿 만신과 술말이, 평안도 굿의 신악, 신춤, 신복 그리고 평안도 굿의 성황대제, 맞이굿, 재수굿, 다리굿 등에 관한 것이다.
주지하다 시피, 북한지역의 굿은 함경도, 평안도, 황해도 등 도 단위로 구분하여이해하는 것이 무속연구자들의 안목이다. 그런데 이러한 구분법에는 허점이 있게 마련이다. 이를 테면, 같은 지역의 굿이라 할지라도 동과 서 그리고 남과 북이 차별성을 갖기 때문이다. 특히 해변의 굿과 내륙의 굿은 확연히 분별된다. 동일 지역의 굿을 좀 더 세분하여 쪼개본다면, 시와 군의 것이 각각 다르고 또한 마을마다 다르게행해지는 경우가 허다하다. 이 뿐만이 아니라 전승계보에 따라서도 많은 차이를 보이는 것이 굿 문화이다. 이토록 굿 전승에는 지역이나 계보에 따라 많은 차이를 갖는특성이 존재한다. 하지만 오늘날의 북한 굿은 남한 땅에서 전승되는 상황과 함께 실향민들로 구성된 단골들이 거의 세상을 떠났다. 월남한 1세대 구대만신(舊代萬神) 및악사들 또한 작고하면서 자연스럽게 남한의 토질과 남한 사람 입맛에 맞게 바뀌어 온것이다. 이와 같이 피할 수 없는 전승지역 및 전승담당층 변화는 이북 굿 다양성을약화 시키는데 크게 일조하였다. 그러한 이러한 상황 속에서도 2007년에는 성황대제와 다리굿이 평안북도 무형문화재 지정을 받아 올바른 전승력을 갖기 위해 노력하게 되었다. 평안도굿의 문화재 지정은 굿 문화 다양성을 지속시키기 위한 것이라 여겨진다. 이에 연구자의 입장에서 그동안 변천과정을 겪어 온 평안도굿의 전승내용을파악하는 일은 의미 있는 것이라 여겨진다.

영어초록

The definition shamanic rituals of the Pyeongan province, in the contextof this paper, are those rituals from Pyeongan province brought byshamans, musicians, and shamanists who migrated to the South during theKorean war and are still alive in South Korea today. The discussedresearch materials of the Pyeongan provincial shamanic ritual were gainedthrough field research of these shamans, musicians and believers duringpast four decades.
This work looks at the main components of the Pyeongan provincialshamanic ritual and its transmission process. The intention is that thesematerials can be used for shaman scholars who are interested in the NorthKorean shamanic rituals for future work. These materials deal with thetransmission process of ritual in the South Korea, including transmitterswho roles include : shamans, musicians, ritual dances, songs, clothes, andbearers of various rituals, such as rituals for fortune and for sending thespirits of the dead to the next world.
The division of shamanic rituals of North Korea is roughly accordingto the different regions, such as Pyeongan provincial style, Hamkyeongprovincial style, and Hwanghae provincial style. However, this method isnot precisely correct. For instance, the discrimination of style is based on the different directions in the same region as north, south, east and weststyles. Particularly, rituals in the areas of the sea coast and inland areasare dissimilar to each other. Furthermore, if you look closer, every villagehas its own style. Moreover, differences exist according to the differentshamans’ genealogies, which is pervasive within the shaman culture inKorea. However, displaced shamans and musicians, as well as believerswho came from North to the South, have died and the style of ritual hasbeen influenced by the customs prevalent in the places these shamanspracticed. This is an unavoidable phenomenon. The influences andchanges to the rituals are contributing to the stripping away of theregional distinctiveness amongst shamanic rituals in Korea today.
However, the Seonghwangdaeje, the great shamanic ritual of Seonghwang,and Darigut, the ritual for sending the spirit of the dead to the next world,were designated as intangible cultural properties by the North Pyeonganprovincial government in 2007, which encourages their transmission tofuture generations of shamans. It also functions to insure the continuationof regional diversity of rituals. Therefore, by the view of researcher, thetransition process research and situation are important to reporting and itsvalue.
