MBC 드라마 제작에서의 프로덕션 디자인 시스템 도입에 관한 연구 (A study on the introduction of production design system in MBC drama production)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) MBC방송콘텐츠의 질적 우위를 확보하기 위한 전략적 문제에 있어 영상 언어에 대한 시각적 표현을 담당하는 미술감독과 미술팀의 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나침이 없다. 본 연구는 실증사례와 선행 연구를 통해 MBC아트의 경쟁력 회복과 자립경영의 기초가 되는 미술감독제 시행의 한계가 기업의 조직구조에 기인한다는 것을 분석했다. 따라서 조직구조 개선방법으로 소사장제를 채택하고 미술감독의 상위 개념인 프로덕션디자이너를 소사장 형태로 관리, 운영하는 조직 유형을 제안하는 것에 목적 있다. (연구방법) 문헌조사 결과 MBC아트의 정규직원은 창사당시인 1992년 약400명이었으며 현재 180여명으로 감축되었다. 그러나 미술의 각 파트가 수직 통합 형태를 유지하는 인력 의존적 사업구조인 관계로 정규직과 매출은 감소한 반면 창사 당시의 제작지원 인력 규모를 비정규직 형태로 유지하고 있다. 이러한 특성은 선행연구에서의 소사장제 구조와 유사한 프로덕션디자인 회사와 비교해 신속한 의사결정, 예산의 효과적 사용, 관리비용의 절감 그리고 조직 내 소통 면에서 상대적 경쟁력 저하라는 비교 결과를 얻었으며 프로덕션디자인 시스템의 도입은 필요한가? 라는 당위성을 도출했다. 두 번째 연구 문제인 어떻게 필요한가? 에 대해 MBC아트의 기업특성을 분석 후 프로덕션디자인 시스템을 도입, 운영하기 위한 체계로 민간기업의 소사장제 선행연구를 통해 유형을 연구하였다. (결과) 첫 단계로 MBC아트의 현 구조를 반영한 과도기적 형태의 강력한 중앙 집중형 소사장제 유형을 제안하였으며, 두 번째로 비 핵심 분야에 대한 점진적 아웃소싱을 통한 플랫폼 구조의 프로덕션디자인 시스템 유형을 제안하였다. 최종 유형은 독립채산형 소사장제에 대한 중앙(MBC) 집중식 관리시스템 제안으로 개방성, 자원의 효율적 배분, 관리비용의 절감 그리고 MBC의 브랜드 이미지 관리라는 특징을 갖는다. (결론) 본 연구에서 제안한 프로덕션디자인 시스템 유형은 차후 MBC의 자회사 정책 문제와 비 핵심 부문의 아웃소싱과 관련된 후속연구를 통해 기업경영에 실제 적용 가능한 연구 결과로 도출 될 수 있으리라고 판단된다. 또한 민간기업의 소사장제 연구를 통한 공기업 내 프로덕션디자인 시스템의 도입 연구는 기업의 상호 특성을 병합시켜 도입의 유연성과 경영의 혁신성을 확보한다는 측면에서 실무연구로서 연구의 의의를 갖는다.

영어초록

(Research Background and Purpose) The importance of the art director and art team in charge of visual expression of film language cannot be overemphasized in strategic issues to secure the qualitative advantage of MBC broadcasting contents. This study analyzed that the limitations of the enforcement of the art supervisory system, which is the basis for the recovery of MBC ART competitiveness and self-sufficiency management, are due to the company's organizational structure through empirical cases and previous studies. Therefore, the purpose is to propose a type of organization that adopts the intrapreneuring as a method of improving the organizational structure and manages and operates the production designer, the higher concept of art director, in the form of small president. (Research method) MBC ART regular workers was about 400 in 1992, when it was founded, and now it has been reduced to 180. However, as each part of art is a manpower-dependent business structure that maintains a vertically integrated form, regular workers and sales declined, while the number of production support personnel at the time of its inception was maintained as Irregular workers. Compared to small-sized production design companies, research results of rapid decision-making, effective use of budget, reduction of management costs, and lower competitiveness in communication within the organization have been obtained. Is it necessary to introduce a production design system? The justification was derived. How do I need the second research question? For this, after analyzing the corporate characteristics of MBC ART, the type of intrapreneuring of private enterprises was studied as a system to introduce and operate a production design system. (Results) As a first step, a strong centralized intrapreneuring type in a transitional form that reflects the current structure of MBC ART was proposed, and secondly, a production design system type with a platform structure through gradual outsourcing to non-core fields was proposed. The final type is the proposal of the central (MBC) centralized management system for the independent profitable intrapreneuring, which has the characteristics of openness, efficient allocation of resources, reduction of management costs, and management of MBC's brand image. (Conclusion) It is believed that the type of production design system proposed in this study can be derived from research results that are practically applicable to corporate management through follow-up studies related to the outsourcing of non-core sectors and the policy issues of MBC's subsidiaries in the future. In addition, the study of introduction of production design system in public enterprises through intrapreneuring research of private companies has significance in the aspect of securing convenience of introduction and innovation of management at the same time by merging mutual characteristics between companies.
