초록

宋德峯(1521～1578)은 16세기의 대표적인 여성문인이며, 조선시대의 대표적인 여성문인 가운데 한 사람이다. 특히 조선시대의 여성문학사를 이해하기 위해서는 그 시발점이라 할 수 있는 송덕봉의 문학에 대한 연구는 반드시 필요하다. 본고는 여기에 연구목적을 두고 논의를 하였다. 논의 결과를 종합하여 요약하면 다음과 같다.
송덕봉의 문학적 배경은 가정적 배경과 남편 유희춘과의 문학적 교감 등을 들 수 있다. 그 중에서도 특히 남편과의 문학적 교감은 송덕봉 문학의 핵심적 배경이라 할 수 있다.
현전하는 송덕봉의 시는 24수이며, 모두 絶句이다. 송덕봉은 詩作을 생활의 일부로 여겼으며, 남편 유희춘과 함께 수창하며 교감하였다. 그러므로 시로 주고받는 부부사랑을 읊은 酬唱詩가 가장 많은데, 이들 시들은 정감 넘치는 애정의 세계를 진솔하게 그리고 있다. 그리고 남자 못지않은 기상과 호방함, 운치와 격조, 높고 맑은 품격의 시들이 많아 주목할 만하다. 송덕봉의 시는 사랑이 주류를 이루고 있는데, 대부분의 여성시인들과는 다른 독특한 시세계를 보이고 있어 높이 평가할 만하다.
현전하는 송덕봉의 산문은 3편(편지 1편, 文 2편)으로, 비교적 평이하면서도 논리적일 뿐만 아니라 힘과 호소력이 있다. 특히 그 文義가 분명하다. <유문절공부인송씨답문절공서>에서는 사랑하는 남편에게 충고와 조언을, <착석문서>에서는 친정아버지에 대한 효심을, <착석문>에서는 孝와 婦道의 조화 속에 소망과 당당함을 표출하고 있다.
송덕봉의 산문은 이응태 부인의 한글 편지와 허난설헌의 <광한전백옥루상량문> 등과 함께 현전하는 16세기 여성 산문의 몇 안 되는 작품으로 고전여성 문학사적으로도 의의가 있다. 뿐만 아니라 송덕봉은 우리 고전여성문학사에서 제일 먼저 개인문집을 가진 여성문인이다. 그리고 송덕봉 문학의 주제는 사랑이다.
한편, 송덕봉은 신사임당이나 허난설헌 등과는 類가 다른 여성으로 보이며, 당시 유교사회에서 여성으로서 할 도리를 다 하면서 동시에 예의를 지키면서도 당당하게 자기 목소리도 낼 줄 아는 그런 인물이었던 것으로 짐작된다. 그래서 요즈음 사회학이나 여성학 분야에서 송덕봉을 새롭게 주목하고 있는 것 같다.
그러므로 송덕봉은 16세기의 대표적인 여성문인이자 조선시대의 대표적인 여성문인의 한 사람으로 꼽을 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 문학과 예술을 사랑하고 삶과 문학이 일치한 송덕봉, 그녀의 고전여성문학사적 위치는 우뚝하다고 하겠다.

영어초록

Song Deok-bong (1521～1578) is the representative female literary figure of the 16th century, and she is one of the representative female literary figures of the Joseon period. In particular, in order to understand the female literature history of the Joseon period, it is indispensable to conduct research into her literature as a starting point. With this aim, the paper pursued discussions. The following is the comprehensive summary of the results from those discussions.
Song Deok-bong’s family background and literary communion with her husband, Yu Hee-chun, may be included in her literary background. Among others, literary communion with her husband may be specifically the essential background of her literature. There are twenty four existing poems of Song Deok-bong, and they are all jeolgu (separated sentences). She considered the creation of poetry as part of her life and she read poetry with and was in communion with her husband Yu Hee-chun. Therefore, mostly her poems are for reading and the exchange of the love of couples is recited in her poetry, and those poems frankly describe a world of overflowing affection.
Also, many of her works are noteworthy in terms of vigor and a magnanimous spirit that are no less than those of men, classical grace and nobility, and high and pure dignity.
Song Doek-bong is a person who read poetry and was in communion with her husband while taking the creation of poetry as part of her life. Her poetry is primarily on love. Unlike most female poets, she showed a uniquely differentiated poetic world, which deserves to be highly evaluated. There are three existing prose compositions (one letter, and two prose writings) of Song Deok-bong, and these are relatively easy yet logical, and strong and appealing. In particular, their literary meaning is clear. In her <Yumunjeolgongbuin Songssi Dabmunjeolgongseo>, she gives recommendations and advice to her beloved husband, and expresses filial love toward her father in <Chakseokmunseo>, whereas she shows hope and dignity in <Chakseokmun> in harmony with filial duty and women’s virtues.
Her prose compositions are meaningful in terms of classic female literature history as some of the few existing prose compositions written by women in the 16th century, which include <Gwanghanjeon Baegongnu Sangnyangmun> by Heo Nanseolheon. Furthermore, she is the female literary figure with the first personal anthology in our classic female literature history. Also the theme of her literature is love.
Meanwhile, Song Deok-bong appears to be a different type of woman from Sinsaimdang or Heo Nanseolheon. She is supposed to be a person who dared to express her opinion while being faithful to the women’s virtues and manners of Confucian society of her time.
Accordingly, Song Deok-bong may be counted as one of the representative female literary figures of the Joseon period as well as the representative female literary figure of the 16th century. Furthermore, she loved literature and art and her life was consistent with her literature. Her status in the light of classical female literature history may be unquestioned.
