釜山과 對馬島의 婚禮俗 비교 연구 (The study of between Busan and Tsushima about the rites of marriage ceremony)

초록

이 논문은 대립과 갈등을 반복하고 있는 한일 양국관계를 극복하고 상대에 대한 근원적이고 진솔한 이해를 위해 오랜 역사 과정을 통해 형성된 通過儀禮 가운데 傳統婚禮俗을 상호 비교한 것이다. 비교 대상지역으로는 부산과 對馬島를 선정하였는데, 이들 지역이 양국을 잇는 최단거리라는 지리적 인접성과 ‘왜관’과 ‘통신사’로 대표되는 역사적 친연성을 공통적으로 지니고 있기 때문이다.
두 지역의 혼례속을 議婚ㆍ大禮ㆍ後禮로 나누어 살핀 결과, 議婚에서는 부모에 의한 배우자의 선택ㆍ중매인의 개입ㆍ말띠 여자의 기피ㆍ納幣의 존재 등에서 공통점을 보인 반면, 通婚圈ㆍ중매인의 자격ㆍ擇日ㆍ納幣物을 통한 길흉 예측 등에서 부분적 차이를 보였다. 또 大禮에 있어서도 예식시간ㆍ신부 입장시의 의식ㆍ交拜禮ㆍ合巹禮 등에서 공통점을 보인 반면, 對馬島는 奠雁禮ㆍ東床禮와 같은 의식이 없고, 예식장소ㆍ초례상 진설물ㆍ예복 갈아입기 등에서 부분적 차이를 보였다. 그리고 後禮에서는 신부의 첫 친정나들이와 시가에 도착한 신부가 행하는 儀式 등에서 공통점을 보인 반면, 부산에 비해 對馬島의 後禮가 상대적으로 너무 약화되어 있었다.
이처럼 양 지역에서 발견되는 공통점은 지리적 인접성과 역사적 친연성 및 농경문화ㆍ불교문화ㆍ유교문화를 공유한 같은 문화권에 속하였기 때문이고, 차이점은 ‘가족주의’와 ‘지역사회로의 귀속의식’을 중시하는 양 지역민의 의식에 기인한 것이다. 하지만 무엇보다 양 지역의 혼례속은 생활단위로서의 地緣意識과 유교적 血緣意識을 접합함으로써 家族主義와 入社統合意識을 공통적으로 반영하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영어초록

This paper is compared traditional marriage ceremony between Busan and Tsushima among rites of passage.
When looking into their marriage ceremony by dividing it into three categories; Uihon(議婚), Daerye(大禮), Hurye(後禮), Uihon of the cities had in common something such as marriage partners chosen by the parents instead of his or her own will, mediation of matchmakers, disfavor against women born in the Year of the Horse as spouses and presence of wedding gifts exchanged between the bride and the groom.
On the other hand, It showed some differences in districts where they were allowed to find marriage partners, qualification for matchmakers, a way of setting a wedding date and predicting good or ill luck, and fortune or misfortune from wedding presents.
As for Daerye, the two cities shared common traits in reference to the amount of time spent on function, rites during a bride's entering, Kyobaerye(交拜禮), Hapgeunrye(合巹禮), with partial differences in venues of the ceremony, stuff placed on the altar, changing the dresses in the process of the wedding and Jeonanrye(奠雁禮), Dongsangrye(東床禮)-kinds of rites-which existed in Busan, but not in Tsushima.
And when it comes to Hurye, the writing showed that while the both regions were sharing some points of sameness in such events like the first visit to a bride's home by the couple after their wedding and in rites performed by the bride when returning to the house of the husband's family following the visit to her home, it was too much less developed in Tsushima than in Busan.
As mentioned at first, such common features founded in the both's marriage ceremony are derived from the geographical proximity and historically close relations with each other. They also resulted form the fact that Korea and Japan belong to the same cultural area with farming, Buddhism and Confucianism.
And the differences are attributed to the collective view of residents in Busan and Tsushima; considering families and assimilating into the local community more important respectively.
Above all, however, this paper made clear that those traditional marriage ceremonies in the two areas are both reflecting familism and the sense of adaptation to a new society by combining consciousness of kind as a unit of living with a sense of blood relation on the basis of confucianism.
