1990년대 소설에 나타난 생태의식 (Review of Ecological Consciousness Characteristics in the 1990's Novels)

초록

This paper is a last part of the researches which re-illuminate current Korean literary works during last 100 years by ecological viewpoint. After reviewing the papers which observed the relationship between ecoism and traditional nature view that appear in the novels of post-industrialization, this paper investigates ecological characteristics of the 1990's novels.
The ecological novels which appear in industrialization early stage expose the destruction situation which the industrialization brings about. The 1990's novels not only accuse the destruction situations but also introspect that cause and bring out the value of life in sharp relief. Those novels also show alternative world that create the harmonious relationships between human and nature. With the effects of ecofeminism and feministic environmental movements, ecofeministic novels that embody destroyed image of women and nature appear from 1990's. Because of the short novels' length restriction, those of pre-industrialization only remain piecemeal ecological thought. After appearing full length novels, those 1990's show deep and various ecological consciousness. This change brightens the prospects of eco-literature and eco-literary theories. When diagnoses of the cause of destruction and various alternatives are suggested, the ecological value will be spread out more widely.
It seems to me that the outline of Korean eco-novels' history are disclosed through this paper. As long as the pre-industrialization is germinating period of ecological thoughts, post industrialization can be regarded ecological consciousness' renaissance.
It can be thought, this paper work helps the recent widely spread out eco-criticism, and also expect fresh stimulus to dichotomous research practice that bisect between the pre-industrialization and the post-industrialization lacking of continuous viewpoint.
