도시 체험형 전망대에 관한 연구 (A Study on Urban Experiential Observatories)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 21세기 들어 고층 건물의 건설이 활발해지면서, 전망대는 단순한 경관 조망을 넘어 다양한 체험을 제공하는 공간으로 진화하고 있다. 이러한 변화는 관광 산업의 체험 중심 트렌드와 기술 발전을 반영한 결과로, 체험형 전망대는 도시의 랜드마크로서 관광객과 지역 주민들에게 독특한 경험을 제공한다. 본 연구는 체험형 전망대의 역할과 중요성을 탐구하여, 도시의 중요 랜드마크로서 체험형 전망대를 인식시키는데 기여하고 향후 전망대를 설치하려는 지방자치단체에서 기초 자료로 활용될 것을 목적으로 한다. (연구방법) 연구의 이론적 범위로는 체험형 전망대의 개념, 특성, 체험 요소를 바탕으로 전통적인 전망대와의 차별성을 규명하고, 파인과 길모어의 4Es 이론과 번트 슈미트의 전략적 체험 모듈(SEM)을 적용하여 관광적, 경제적, 심리적 가치를 분석하였다. 시간적, 공간적 범위로는 2010년 이후 개발된 주요 체험형 전망대를 대상으로 하였으며, 이론적 고찰과 사례 연구를 통해 체험 요소별 효과를 평가하였다. 시간적, 공간적 연구의 범위로는 최근 2010년 이후 개발된 체험형 전망대를 중심으로 설정하여 현대적 트렌드와 기술적 발전을 반영한 국내·외 주요 체험형 전망대 사례를 선정하였다. 사례 선정 기준은 기술·문화·경제·혁신 등의 측면에서 세계를 선도하는 지역을 중심으로 선정하였다. (결과) 본 연구는 체험형 전망대의 개념과 특성을 고찰하고, 주요 국내외 사례를 분석함으로써 체험형 전망대가 현대 관광 산업 및 도시 발전에 미치는 영향과 가능성을 다각적으로 탐구하였다. 이를 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 체험형 전망대는 단순히 도시 경관을 조망하는 기능을 넘어 독창적이고 몰입적인 체험을 제공함으로써 방문객들에게 차별화된 경험을 선사한다. 둘째, 체험형 전망대는 지역 경제 및 관광 산업에 실질적인 경제적 가치를 창출한다. 셋째, 사회적·심리적 측면에서 체험형 전망대는 지역 사회의 교류와 심리적 안정감을 제공하는 공간으로 작용한다. 넷째, 체험형 전망대는 도시 이미지를 제고하고 도시 브랜드 가치를 강화하는 데 기여한다. 다섯째, 첨단 기술의 도입은 체험형 전망대의 핵심 성공 요인으로 작용한다. (결론) 체험형 전망대는 관광 산업의 체험 중심 트렌드와 기술 발전을 반영한 현대적 관광 자원으로서 중요한 가치를 지니고 있다. 기술 혁신과 창의적 설계를 통해 지속 가능한 관광 자원으로 발전할 가능성이 높으며, 도시와 관광 자원의 새로운 모델로 자리 잡을 것이다. 본 연구는 체험형 전망대의 효과와 잠재력을 제시함으로써, 도시 계획 및 관광 자원 개발의 전략적 방향성을 제안하고, 관광 산업과 연계된 다각적 가치 창출의 기회를 모색하는 데 기여할 것이다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) In the 21st century, the construction of skyscrapers has become increasingly prevalent, leading to the transformation of observatories from simple viewpoints to spaces that offer diverse experiences. This evolution reflects the experiential trends in the tourism industry and advancements in technology. Experiential observatories now serve as urban landmarks that provide unique experiences for tourists and local residents. This study explored the role and significance of experiential observation decks, contributing to their recognition as major urban landmarks. Furthermore, it sought to serve as a foundational resource for local governments planning to establish observation decks. (Method) This study investigated the concepts, characteristics, and experiential elements of experiential observatories, distinguishing them from traditional observatories. Pine and Gilmore’s 4Es theory and Schmitt’s strategic experiential modules were applied to analyze tourism, economic, and psychological values. The temporal and spatial scope of this research included major experiential observatories developed since 2010. This study evaluated the effects of various experiential elements through theoretical reviews and case studies, which reflected modern trends and technological advancements. Major domestic and international experiential observatories were chosen based on the criteria that considered technology, culture, economy, and innovation, focusing on regions that are leading in these aspects globally. (Results) This study examined the concept and characteristics of experiential observatories and analyzed major domestic and international cases to explore their impact and potential in the modern tourism industry and urban development. Based on this analysis, the following findings were obtained. First, experiential observatories go beyond simply offering a view of the urban landscape and provide unique and immersive experiences that differentiate them from traditional observatories. Second, experiential observatories generate tangible economic value for local economies and the tourism industry. Third, from a social–psychological perspective, experiential observatories serve as spaces that foster community interactions and provide psychological comfort. Fourth, experiential observatories can enhance a city’s image and strengthen its brand value. Fifth, the integration of cutting-edge technology is a key success factor for experiential observatories. (Conclusions) As a modern tourism resource that reflects experiential trends and technological advancements in the tourism industry, experiential observatories have significant value. They possess the potential to evolve into sustainable tourism resources through technological innovation and creative design, establishing themselves as new models for urban and tourism assets. This study highlights the effects and potential of experiential observatories, offering strategic directions for urban planning and tourism resource development while identifying opportunities for introducing multifaceted values linked to the tourism industry.
