초록

본 연구는 소위 ‘주체노선’으로 알려진 북한의 ‘당의 유일사상체계’가 선언된 1967년 이후 확립된 ‘문학에서의 당의 유일사상체계’의 중요한 조직적 조건으로서 ‘당의 붉은 작가’의 형성과정을 밝힌다. 본 연구의 차별성은 1930년대 소련의 사회주의 리얼리즘 ‘원형’의 토착화 관점에서 논리 및 조직적 체계 양 측면을 함께 살펴봄으로써 ‘당의 유일사상체계’ 확립에 이르는 북한 사회주의 문예 형성의 과정에서 문예 인텔리, 행위자들의 역할 및 그 사회적 지반을 조명하는 데 있다. 소련 사회주의 리얼리즘 원형의 이론적 수용과 함께 체제형성기 ‘공화국’에서 교육을 받고 자라난 새로운 세대라는 인적 조건, 새로운 ‘사회주의 건설’의 물적 토대를 바탕으로 한 새로운 기층 인민대중 출신 인텔리들의 부상 및 세대교체의 동학으로 ‘문학에서의 당의 유일사상체계’ 형성을 설명함으로써 본 연구는 문예 부문 내부 논리에 국한되지 않는, 사회적 변동과 긴밀히 연계된 문예 부문에서의 ‘사회주의 건설’ 과정을 보이는 데 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This paper explores the formation process of the ‘red writers of the Party,’ which consisted of an essential organizational condition for the ‘Monolithic Ideological System of the Party in literature’ established by 1967. North Korea’s establishment of the ‘Monolithic Ideological System of the Party’ was a project of making the party-state that encompasses both economy and culture under revolutionary change. Being a part of the whole process, the making of the socialist literature and arts was a vital component that could also promote and influence the holistic change. This paper first analyzes the reception of the principle of ‘class-mindedness’(klassovost’) among the basic categories of socialist realism, which offers the model for the indigenized version of socialist realism, or the making of socialist literature and arts on their own in North Korea. More importantly, along with the theoretical category’s reception, this paper probes how the new generation of revolutionary intellectuals made their way into society in line with changes in education policy. The rise of the group of new writers was situated in the context of changing education and intellectual policies at the time, which opened a space for the newly educated workers and peasants with the minimum level of middle school education. In addition to the new generation of writers, traditional elites who have proven their loyalty to the party-state could be incorporated into red writers of the Party. By highlighting the social base of the red writers of the Party, this paper contributes to a better understanding of the making of socialist realism in North Korea in terms of both ideological and organizational formation.
