한중 문헌설화에 나타난 귀신담 - 18세기 이전 작품을 중심으로 (Ghost fence in Korean and Chinese literature-Focusing on works before 18th century)

초록

본 논문에서는 한‧중 18세기 이전의 문헌에 나타난 귀신담을 바탕으로 유형과 특징을 고찰하였다. 구체적인 작업으로 한국의 귀신담은 『용재총화(慵齋叢話)』, 『어우야담(於於野談)』, 『천예록(天倪錄)』을 대본으로 하였으며, 중국의 귀신담은 『요재지이(聊齋志異)』에 수록된 자료를 연구 대상으로 삼았다.
본 연구에서는 귀신담의 분류기준을 귀신과 사람의 관계에 따라 애정형･은정형･복수형･퇴치형 네 가지 유형으로 분류하여 구체적으로 한･중 귀신담을 유형별로 비교 분석하였다.
첫째, 한･중 애정형 귀신담에서 여주인공은 대부분 귀신 신분으로 등장한다는 점에서 공통점을 보였다. 여귀형상은 당대 남성들이 추구한 미인 형상이다. 또한, 여성귀신은 남자주인공과 성관계를 맺고 애육의 금기를 깨서 현실사회에서 드러낼 수 없는 갈망을 표현하였다는 점에서 공통점을 보인다. 그러나 한국의 애정형 귀신담에서 여자주인공은 전란으로 인해 억울하게 죽는 반면, 중국의 여귀는 사람으로 환생하여 남자 주인공과 결혼하는 이야기가 많다.
둘째, 한･중 은정형 귀신담 중에 귀신과 사람은 서로 은혜를 주고받는데 귀신이 사람에게 은혜를 주는 것은 한･중 은정형의 공통점이다. 은정형 귀신담은 시은형(施恩形)･보은형(報恩形)･청은형(請恩形)으로 세분 할 수 있다. 시은형을 보면, 한국의 귀신담에서는 돌아가신 조상이 자손에게 은혜를 베풀고 위험을 해소해 주는 반면에 중국의 귀신담에서는 조상이 등장하지 않는다. 보은형에서는 한국의 귀신담에서는 귀신이 사람의 은혜를 받고 가문을 일으키거나 벼슬길을 도와준다는 보답을 하였다. 중국의 귀신담에서는 귀신이 아들로 환생하여 보답하거나 인연을 맺는 차이점이 나타난다. 청은형은 한국의 귀신담에서는 제사문화에 대한 묘사가 많은 반면에 중국의 귀신담에서는 귀신은 저승세계의 처벌을 면제하기 위해 이승세계의 사람을 청한다는 차이점을 드러난다.
셋째, 한･중 복수형 귀신담은 원한(怨恨) 때문에 사람을 공격하고 한을 푼다는 점에서 공통적인 요소이다. 한국의 귀신담에서는 사람이 죽은 후의 묘지나 제사를 중시하지 않고 귀신의 복수를 받는다는 특징이고 나타나는 반면에 중국의 귀신담에서는 주로 권선징악에 중점을 두고 있다는 차이점이 나타난다.
넷째, 한･중 퇴치형 귀신담은 제사를 통해 성공적으로 귀신을 퇴치하는 것과 도사, 승인 등의 도움을 받아 귀신을 퇴치한다는 공통점을 보인다. 그러나 한국 퇴치형 귀신담에서는 사람의 성품에 중점을 두고 정직한 사람이 귀신을 두렵지 않는 반면에 귀신이 사람의 성품을 두려워서 사라지는 점을 보인다. 중국 퇴치형 귀신담에서는 남주인공은 죽은 후에 도사의 도움을 받고 사람으로 환생하는 특징을 보인다.
한･중 귀신담의 특징을 전체적으로 살피면, 한국의 귀신담은 제사와 사람의 성품을 주제로 한 작품이 많다. 제사를 주제로 한 작품이 많은 이유는 조선전기의 사회적인 여건에 기인한다. 조선전기에는 전란이 잦았기 때문에 제사를 통해 전란에서 목숨을 잃은 사람을 위로하고 추모하던 분위기가 만연했다.
또한 한･중 귀신담은 사람들에게 권선징악의 교훈을 주고 금기를 깨는 공통점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 한국의 귀신담이 유교사상 위주에 불교, 무교 사상이 그 속에 타협하여 이야기 속에 투영된 반면, 중국의 귀신담은 불교사상 중 환생 사상이 주로 이야기 속에 드러난다는 점에서 차이점을 보인다. 또한 중국 성애에 대한 개방적 태도와 자유로운 사상이 이야기 속에 투영된다는 점도 차이점으로 보인다.

In this paper, we examined the types and characteristics based on the ghosts in the literature of the pre - 18th century. As a concrete work, the ghost fence of Korea was written as a script of <Yong Jae Chong Hwa>, <Eowoo-Yadam>, <Cheon-Ye-Rok> and the Chinese work <Yojaejiee>.
In this study, the classification criteria of ghost fences were classified into four types according to the relationship between ghosts and people: affection type, silver type, plural type, and extermination type.
First, in the Korean-Chinese affectionate ghost fence, the heroine appeared in common as a ghost identity. The shape of the female figure is a beautiful figure pursued by contemporary men. In addition, female ghosts have commonality in that they have sexual relations with the male protagonist and break the taboo of childhood and express the desire that can not be revealed in the real society. However, while the heroine in the affectionate ghost fence of Korea is dying unfairly due to the war, there are many stories of the Chinese fake wife being reincarnated as a person and marrying the male character.
Second, among gods of Korea and China, the gods and men exchange grace with each other. Ghosts give grace to man is the common point between Korea and China. Eunjeong-ghosts can be subdivided into poems, poems, and poems. In the case of Shi Eun, the ancestors who died in the ghosts of Korea give grace and relieve their descendants, while the ancestors do not appear in the ghosts of China. In Bo-eung, the ghosts in Korea gave a reward that the ghost received the grace of man and raised the family or helped the road. In the ghost wall of China, there is a difference that the demon reincarnates as a son and rewards or bonds. Qing tells the difference between the brother and the soul of the Korean ghosts, while the ghosts of China reveal the difference that the ghosts ask the people of the world to exempt the punishment of the afterlife.
Third, the plural form of ghost faction in Korea and China is a common factor in attacking people and solving Han because of grudge. In the ghost fence of Korea, people are characterized by receiving the revenge of the ghost instead of paying attention to graveyard or sacrifice after death, whereas in the ghost fence of China, the focus is mainly on winding conspiracy.
Fourth, the anti-demographic ghost faction in Korea and China shows the common point of successfully defeating demons through sacrifices and fighting demons with the help of donations and endorsements. However, in Korean destruction ghost fencing, focus on human character and show that honest person is not afraid of ghost, while ghost is afraid of person 's character and disappears. In the Chinese eradicate ghost fence, the male character appears after the death to be helped by the teacher and reincarnated as a person.
Looking at the characteristics of Korean and Chinese ghost fences as a whole, there are many works on the theme of Korean ghost festival sacrifices and personality. The reason why many works on the theme of sacrifice is due to the social conditions of the Chosun Dynasty. In the Joseon Dynasty, warriors were frequent, so there was an atmosphere of memorializing and comforting those who lost their lives in the war through ceremonies.
In addition, the people of Korea and China have a common point in teaching people the discipline of warring and breaking taboos. However, while the ghost fence in Korea is dominated by Confucianism, Buddhism and Buddhist thought are compromised in the story, while the Chinese ghost Buddhism is different in that the reincarnation of Buddhism is revealed in the story. In addition, it seems that there is also a difference in that the open attitude toward Chinese sexuality and the free thought are reflected in the story.
