The highest pronoun of our country poor village is Daldongne that overwhelmed in 1960's
~1970's. Daldongne was poor village formed because of the malformed urbanization and the
fast industrialization of our country. Daldongne is located to high hillside the derivation was
originated from at 'moon tent village' as meaning that looked well the moon.
I think the important subject of Urban Folklore studies as the places where Daldongne of a
big city was produced modern life culture and substratum culture of a big city. I searched for
essay to stir up study about Daldongne.
First of all I tried to review modern history background of the birth of Daldongne and an
instance of Busan area Daldongne. Daldongne came into being by influx of a refugee by the
Korean War and return of brothers after liberation. Specially, the Daldongne of Busan was
formed by refugees, Acculturation was performed extensively.
Following I described about city folklore of Daldongne and a tendency of Urban Folklore
studies. Until now we generally studied citizen folklore as tradition culture that persisted and
changed in urbanization processes. From now on, the modern folklore which were generated in
modern cities had to be studied. An urgent assignment in Urban Folklore studies executes field
work regarding a city village disappearing because of the city development and it needed to
write the overall ethnography.
Finally, I discussed a meaning of the urban folklore that Daldongne was having. Daldongne
was a space consisting of life of inhabitants in the Urban area and modern culture of city
generated in urbanization processes. Also, it was a temporary bridge joining a village and a
city, the place that formed border culture of surrounding a city, and poor in background of life
culture to be daily of Daldongne. After all, it was formed typical popular culture in city
