국내한국학 지원을 통한 한국학 연구의 현황 분석 -한국학진흥사업단 국내한국학 분야 연구과제(2007-2023)을 중심으로- (Analysis of Current Research on Korean Studies through Domestic Support Programs -Focusing on Research Projects in the Field of Domestic Korean Studies by the Korean Studies Promotion Service (2007-20)

초록

본 연구는 정부 지원으로 진행된 국내한국학 연구 현황을 분석하고, 이를 통해 국내한국학의 학문적 지원 방향을 제언하기 위해 수행되었다. 구체적 분석대상은 2007년부터 2023년까지 교육부에서 지원한 한국학진흥사업단 국내한국학 연구과제이며, 일반 지원 현황 검토를 바탕으로 연구분야, 연구시기, 연구인력, 연구주제 등을 계량적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구과제는 총 413건, 년평균 연구과제는 24.3건이며, 연구비는 총 2,408억, 과제평균 연구비는 5.83억원으로 지속적으로 대규모 과제를 지원하였다. 둘째, 연구분야는 인문학 61.3%, 사회과학 29.0%, 예술․체육학 8.7%, 기타 4건 1.0% 순이며, 특히 역사학이 40%, 정치사가 11% 정도로 많이 연구되었다. 셋째, 연구시기는 조선 25.7%, 현대 25.7%, 근대 22.5%, 기타 13.8%, 고대 7.0%, 선사 3.6%, 고려 1.7% 순으로 선사시대와 고려시대 연구가 부족하였다. 넷째, 연구인력은 총 2,332명, 과제평균 연구인력은 5.6명으로 공동과제는 74.3%이며, 국외기관소속 연구인력은 5.3%에 불과하였다. 다섯째, 키워드 빈도는 문화, 한국, 조선, 역사, 근대, 사회, 국가, 사전, 한국학, 정치, 자료, 민족, 왕실 등의 순이며, 토픽은 ‘국가와 종교’, ‘유학과 번역’, ‘문화와 교류’, ‘정치와 사상’, ‘기록과 고문서’, ‘학파와 문헌’ 등이다. 이상을 통해 본 연구는 향후 한국학진흥사업단 국내한국학 분야의 학문적 지원 방향으로 참여 소외 해외지역 한국학자가 참여하는 국내외 한국학자 공동 연구, 기존의 주요 연구주제나 연구시기나 벗어난 소외 연구 개발, 한국 사회의 경험과 발전에 대한 시대적․지역적 비교 연구 등을 제언하였다.

영어초록

This study analyzes the current status of domestic research on Korean studies supported by the government and proposes academic support strategies based on the findings. The research focuses on projects in the domestic Korean studies field funded by the Ministry of Education through the Korean Studies Promotion Service (KSPS) from 2007 to 2023. The analysis methods included a quantitative review of various factors such as general support status, research fields, research periods, research personnel, and research topics. Research topics were examined using keyword frequency analysis and topic modeling. The key findings are as follows: First, a total of 413 research projects were conducted, with an average of 24.3 projects per year. The total research funding amounted to 240.8 billion KRW, with an average project funding of 583 million KRW. Second, for the distribution of research fields, humanities accounted for the highest proportion at 61.3%, followed by social sciences at 29.0%, arts and physical education at 8.7%, and other fields at 1.0% (4 projects). Third, regarding research periods, studies on the Joseon and modern eras each accounted for 25.7%, followed by studies on the early modern period (22.5%), other unspecified periods (13.8%), ancient times (7.0%), prehistoric times (3.6%), and the Goryeo era (1.7%). Fourth, the total number of researchers involved was 2,332, with an average of 5.6 researchers per project. Collaborative projects comprised 74.3% of the total, and researchers affiliated with foreign institutions made up 5.3%. Fifth, keyword frequency analysis showed that the most common keyword was culture, followed by Korea, Joseon, history, modernity, society, nation, dictionary, Korean studies, politics, data, ethnicity, and royal court. Topics included “state and religion,” “Confucianism and translation,” “culture and exchange,” “politics and ideology,” “records and historical documents,” and “academic schools and literature.” Based on these findings, the study suggests that future academic support for domestic Korean studies should focus on international collaborative research, research on underexplored topics, comparative studies, etc.
