    초록

    The purpose of this study was to compare the shear bond strengths of three dentin bonding agents that were applied on bur-cut dentin prepared with diamond burs and carbide burs, whose cutting edge were different from traditional carbide burs.
    Sixty sound human molar were divided into 6 groups of 10 teeth, and the following dentin bonding agents were used: 1) One-step self etching adhesive ; ClearfilTM SE bond (Kuraray, Japan) 2) Two-step self etching adhesive ; Xeno® III (Dentsply, Germany) 3) Acid etching adhesive ; Adper single bond 2(3M ESPE, USA) The burs were carbide burs (Great whiteTM ultra, SS white®, USA) and diamond burs (TR-13, ISO198/018, Mani®, Japan). For each group, 10 teeth were used in the study. The buccal surfaces of human molars were ground flat to expose dentin and treated with the each bonding system according to manufacturer's instruction and followed by composite resin application. After soaking in 37℃ water during 24 hours, shear bond strength of specimens were measured by crosshead speed of 1 mm/min using universal testing machine (Instron).
    Bur surfaces, smear layer and resin tags were examed using a SEM.
    Following results were obtained :
    1. In each bonding agent group, when tooth surface was prepared with carbide bur with new type of cutting edge, shear bond strengths was lower than when diamond bur was used, but there was no statistical significance (p>0.05).
    2. ClearfilTM SE bond showed the highest shear bond strength, followed by AdperTM Single bond 2 and Xeno® III. Statistically, both ClearfilTM SE bond and AdperTM single bond 2 had higher shear bond strength than Xeno® III (p<0.05).
    3. Prepared smear layer was thick and heavy, but the degree of discontinuity and depth of scratch of smear layer surface was higher when teeth surface was prepared with carbide bur with new type of cutting edge than when they were prepared with diamond bur.
    4. Resin tags of acid etching adhesive were well developed regardless of bur types. Resin tags of self etching adhesive were thin and short, but they were longer when diamond burs were used than when carbide burs were used.
    In adhesion of composite resin on dentin, the choice of adequate dentin bonding agents and the type and surface shape of burs are one of important factors for the increase of shear bond strength.
