초록

This research explores the multi-movement music style based on the ‘grand pas de deux's’ musical structure which aims to revitalize dance music with artistry and practicality. ‘grand pas de deux’ is great for dance music because it has a solid structure along with a plentiful dance emotion. Its musical structure is superior to that of multi-movement instrumental music in the following four items.
1. Dance Emotion-‘grand pas de deux’ and Classical Suite contain the sensibility of dance, while Sonata is an absolute instrumental music.
2. Flexible Form-‘grand pas de deux’ form is not specified but determined by the characteristics of dance. It makes the composers to demonstrate their creativity and experimental ability. But Suite has simple structures such as Binary-form and Compound Ternary-form, and Sonata is adhered to only sonata-allegro form.
3. Fixed Movements-In the number of movements, ‘grand pas de deux’ has a fixed five-movement structure. The role and characteristics of each movement are clear. On the other hand, Suite and Sonata have variable structures in which additional movements are inserted.
4. Efficient Arrangement of the Movements-All three styles have the fastest and most spectacular movements in the finale. As a result of charting the tempo and sequence of the movements, ‘grand pas de deux’ shows the shape of W or V, N for Suite, and V for Sonata. ‘grand pas de deux’ puts various characteristics of music into the fourth movement just before the finale, enhancing structural efficiency.
Due to such excellence, the following ‘grand pas de deux’ music style can be proposed.
The 1st Movement, Moderato~Allegretto, Form: free / Contents: To describe ‘entry’ and ‘appearance’ The 2nd Movement, Adagio~Andantino Form: free / Contents: To describe ‘beautiful and slow pas de deux’ The 3rd Movement, Allegretto~Allegro Form: free including Ternary-form /Contents: To describe ‘powerful masculinity’ The 4th Movement, tempo free Form: free including Ternary-form / Contents: To describe ‘femininity’ The 5th Movement, Allegro~Presto Form: free / Contents: To describe ‘spinning and leap motion’
