초등 예비교사의 다문화 태도 및 다문화교육 효능감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Multicultural Education Efficacy and the Multicultural Attitude of the Elementary Pre-service Teacher)

초록

이 연구의 목적은 초등 예비교사의 다문화 태도와 다문화교육 효능감을 분석하여 초등 예비교사의 다문화교육과정 운영에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 교육대학교 2학년 재학생(n=201)을 대상으로 조사대상자의 배경 변인과 다문화 경험 및 인식, 다문화교육 효능감에 대한 문항을 구성하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 통계적 분석 방법으로는 빈도분석, t-검정, 교차분석 및 분산분석을 이용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 다문화 경험에서 해외여행은 110명(54.7%)이 경험이 있는 것으로 나타났고, 일반 동아리 활동 147명(73.1%), 봉사활동 187명(93.0%)에 비해 다문화와 관련된 동아리 활동은 188명(93.5%), 봉사활동은 163명(81.1%)가 경험이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 다문화 경험은 여학생이 남학생에 비해 다문화 봉사활동과 다문화교육 수강 경험)이 높게 나타나 남녀 간에 유의적인 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 다문화 인식에서 외국인을 보았을 때의 느낌은 국적이나 피부색에 따라 느끼는 정도가 크게 차이가 있었고, 미국 및 유럽지역의 문화보다 아시아 지역의 문화에 대한 이해가 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화교육 효능감의 하위 요인에서는 성별에 따라 차이를 나타내었는데, 다문화교육 지도능력, 다문화교육 교수, 학습 방법 및 내용에서 성별에 따른 유의적인 차이를 나타내었다. 다문화 경험 정도에 따라서는 다문화교육 효능감의 하위 요인 중 다문화교육 지도능력, 다문화교육 교수, 학습 방법 및 내용에서 유의적인 상관성을 나타내었다.
이 연구결과를 토대로 다문화 교육과정 운영에서 다인종, 다문화사회 이해 및 수용성의 확대뿐만 아니라 새로운 방식의 다문화교육 방법이 병행되어야 할 것이다. 다문화교육은 가치와 태도 교육으로 교육내용과 방향이 가치와 태도를 결정짓기 때문에 초등 예비교사가 올바른 다문화 태도와 다문화교육 효능감을 가질 수 있도록 교육대학교 저학년부터 다문화 태도 및 감수성을 함양할 수 있는 다문화교육 내용의 구성이 필요하다.

영어초록

This study is to provide the basic data for the implementation of the curriculum for the elementary pre-service teachers based on the analysis of the multicultural attitude and multicultural education efficacy of the elementary pre-service teacher. For this, the survey targeting the students at the university of education and the frequency analysis were used as the statistical analysis methods. The questionnaire included the items of the multicultural experience and recognition in order to investigate the background variables and multicultural attitude of the participants and of the directive capacity of multicultural education, the teaching-learning method and contents of the multicultural education, and the effect factors of multicultural education in order to investigate the multicultural efficacy. The results of the research were as follows; Firstly, with regard to the background variables of the elementary pre-service teacher, 110 participants (54.7%) were found to have the overseas trips, 147 participants to participate in the general club activities, and 187 participants (93.0%) to engage in the voluntary services. On the other hand, 188 participants (93.5%) were found not to experience the club activities associated with the multiple cultures and only 35 participants (17.4) were found to have experience of engaging in the voluntary services, which shows that the club activities and the voluntary services associated with the multiple cultures were revealed to experience at a significantly lower rate.
Secondly, feeling in meeting a foreigner varied widely on his/her nationality and complexion and the students were found to have much less understanding of the cultures of Asian region than those of the United states and Europe.
Thirdly, the female students were found to be higher in the multicultural experience and recognition affecting the multicultural attitude than the male students, which shows the significant difference in the multicultural recognition (p<.001) on their gender.
Fourthly, with regard to the multicultural education efficacy, the directive capacity of multicultural education (p<.05), the teaching-learning method and contents of the multicultural education (p<.001) among the sub-factors were found to be significantly different on the participants' gender.
Fifthly, the multicultural experience was found to be a predictor have an independent effect on the multicultural attitude and the multicultural education efficacy, which reveals that the multicultural experience has a significant correlationship with the multicultural recognition and the multicultural education efficacy.
The expanded understanding and receptivity of the multiracial and multicultural society need to be paired with the various methods of the multicultural education. In addition, the educational contents placing an emphasis on the multicultural attitude and receptivity shall be constructed for the elementary school lower graders in order for the elementary pre-service teachers to have a appropriate multicultural attitude and the multicultural education efficacy.
