다감각자극환경 기반의 치유공간 디자인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Healing Spatial Design Based on Multi-Sensory Stimulation Environment)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 현대인들은 과도한 스트레스와 초고령화 사회에 들어오면서 정신적, 신체적 장애 현상을 겪고 있다. 이에따라 치유공간에 대한 관심 또한 높아지고 있다. 치유공간은 인간의 몸과 감각의 통합 작용을 통해 신체적 행동과 심리적 변화를 동반한 복합적인 치유가 이루어져야 하는 활동을 수용하는 장소이다, 그러므로 심리적으로 편안하고 안정감을 줄 수 있는 치유공간 디자인을 위한 특성으로서 다감각자극환경의 요소를 적용하여 치유공간의 디자인 계획에 새로운 가능성 및 기회를 제시하고자 한다. (연구방법) 본 연구는 첫째, 치유의 개념과 다감각자극환경을 이론적 고찰을 통해 정의한다. 둘째, 치유공간 디자인 요소와 다감각자극환경의 특성에 대해 선행 연구와 문헌을 통해서 공간구성과 다감각자극환경의 특성들을 추출하여 평가 분석모형을 제안한다. 셋째, 분석모형을 통해 치유공간 디자인 중 노인 요양원과 노인 주택을 중심으로 선진사례를 선정하여 치유공간 디자인과 다감각자극환경과의 관계성을 해석하고, 구체적인 디자인 요소와 특성을 검증하여 본연구의 의미를 확인한다. (결과) 인간의 존엄성에 기반을 둔 삶의 질의 문제는 현대인이 웰빙(Well-being)을 추구하려고 하는 욕구와 같다. 인간의 존엄성을 회복시키고, 소통의 장으로서 삶을 재생, 연결시키기 위해서는 치유를 위한 공간에 대한 연구가 계속 되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 다감각자극환경 요소를 확장성, 반복성, 상호관계성, 시간성, 몰입성으로 나누었고, 치유공간 디자인의 요소는 물리적 환경요소, 기능적 환경요소, 인지적 환경요소, 사회적 환경요소, 심리적 환경요소로 분류하였다. 분석 결과 대부분의 치유공간 디자인과 다감각자극환경의 특성이 잘 반영되어 있었으나 자연환경 요소는 아직도 부족하다는 결과를 알 수 있었다. (결론) 미래의 치유 디자인은 웰빙(Well-being) 비전에 지향점을 두고 진정한 삶의 의미와 가치 표현을 위한 공간으로서 치유자의 역할을 해야 한다. 치유를 위한 공간 디자인에서 필요한 요소와 다감각자극환경의 특성이 골고루 반영 되었을 때에 진정한 치유의 공간으로서 삶의 질을 높이는 공간 디자인이 가능할 것이다. 향후 치유공간 디자인을 위한 유의미한 자료가 되기를 기대한다.

(Background & Purpose) Contemporary society is burdened by excessive stress and mental and physical disorders along with the transition into an ultra-aging society. As a result, there has been a heightened interest in healing spaces. The healing space is a place for activities that seek to produce holistic healing, that is, physical, behavioral, and psychological healing, through actions engaging the human body and senses. This study was intended to present new possibilities and opportunities in the design of healing spaces by applying the elements of multi-sensory stimulation environment to create a healing space design that provides psychological comfort. (Method) First, this study defined the concept of healing and the multi-sensory stimulation environment based on theoretical considerations. Second, this study proposed an evaluation and analysis model by identifying the characteristics of spatial configuration and multi-sensory stimulation environment through consideration of preceding studies and literature in connection with healing space design elements and characteristics of multi-sensory stimulation environment. Third, this study analyzed the relationship between healing space design and multi-sensory stimulation environment by selecting advanced cases of elderly nursing homes and elderly housing in the healing space design through the analysis model, and examined the meaning of this study by verifying specific design elements and characteristics. (Results) Human dignity is a key component in determining quality of life and the importance given to protecting human dignity while designing contemporary spaces reflects the desire of contemporary people to pursue well-being. Research on healing space design should be continued to restore human dignity and create spaces that encourage human connection and easy communication. In this study, the multi-sensory stimulation environment elements were divided into extensibility, repetition, interrelationship, temporality, and immersion, while the environmental elements of healing space design were classified into physical, functional, cognitive, social, and psychological environmental elements. The results of analysis showed that most of the healing space design and characteristics of multi-sensory stimulation environment were well reflected, but natural environment elements were found to be still insufficient. (Conclusion) The healing design of the future should focus on well-being and posit the healing space as a healer that supports individuals in finding the meaning of life and expressing their emotions. Spatial design that improves the quality of life as a true healing space will be achieved when the elements necessary for healing space design and the characteristics of multi-sensory stimulation environment are evenly reflected. This researcher hopes that the results of this study would provide useful data for healing space design in the future.
