다문화 역사교육을 위한 교재개발 과정과 내용구성 - 『한국사 속의 다문화』를 중심으로 - (The Process of Textbook Development for the Multicultural History Education and Its Contents - Centering around Multiculturalism in Korean History -)

초록

다문화교육의 목표는 인종적･민족적･종교적･언어적 차이에 의한 고정관념이나 편견을 배제하는 것이다. 현재 다문화 교과교육 연구동향을 보면, 다문화 교과교육의 방향성 모색(목적, 필요성, 방법론), 다문화 교육과 교과교육과의 연계성 모색, 각급 교과서의 다문화 관련 단원 구성 및 내용구성, 다문화 대안학교 교육과정 개발 등 다양한 측면에서의 연구가 진행 중에 있다. 한국 교과교육학계는 아직 초기 단계이기는 하지만, 다문화교육을 위한 범교과 교수학습 프로그램을 개발하고 있으며, 이러한 다문화 교과교육을 통하여 학습자의 정체성 형성, 사회적 다양성의 이해와 상호 존중, 새로운 문화의 창조에 기여하고 있다.
최근 한국의 역사교육학계에서도 다문화시대의 새로운 역사교육을 위한 교재개발을 위한 노력을 경주하고 있는데, 중앙대학교 문화콘텐츠기술연구원과 동국대학교 역사교과서연구소가 학술교류협정을 맺고 추진하고 있는 청소년을 위한 다문화 대안 역사교과서인 『한국사 속의 다문화』(가칭)이 하나의 사례이다. 다문화 대안 역사교과서는 국내외 다양한 연구 성과를 반영하고 있으며, 현행 검정 역사교과서와는 별도로 중등학교에서 역사 부교재 및 역사학습 보조 자료로 활용될 수 있도록 기획되었다. 지난 2014년 10월 대안 교과서를 위한 기획안이 마련된 이후 2015년 한 해 동안 대학교수, 국책연구기관 연구원, 현직 중등학교 교사 등 총 18명의 집필진이 참여하여 집필초안이 마련되었다. 대안 역사교과서는 한국사를 전근대와 근현대로 구분하여 통사적으로 목차가 구성되어 있으며, 학습자의 이해를 돕기 위한 보론(한국의 귀화성씨, 다문화 공간 이태원)이 추가되었다. 내용구성은 사진, 그림, 지도, 삽화, 통계자료, 다문화 돋보기 등 다양한 보조자료의 소개를 통해 학습자가 본문 내용을 이해하는데 도움을 주고자 했다. 대안 역사교과서는 2016년 3월 출판사 섭외를 끝내고 편집 중에 있으며, 오는 2016년 9월 초 출간예정이다.
대안 역사교과서는 한국이 오랜 옛날부터 다문화사회였다는 것이 아니라 한국사의 전개과정에서 각 시대별로 다양한 문화적 요소들이 유입되었으며, 그러한 요소들이 오늘날 한국문화를 형성하는 데 영향을 주었다는 점을 강조하고 있다.

영어초록

he objective of multicultural education is to exclude the fixed ideas and prejudices from racial, people, religious and language differences. The current trends of studies on multicultural curriculums and education focus on the exploration of the direction of multicultural curriculums and education (purpose, necessity and methodology), the exploration of connectivity between multicultural education, and curriculums and education, multicultural-related unit composition and its contents in various-level textbooks, and the development of alternative multicultural schools' curriculums, among other diverse aspects. South Korea's circles of curriculums and education are still in the initial stage, but they are developing universal curriculum teaching/learning programs for mulcultural education, and such multicultural curriculums and education are contributing to forming the learners' identity, understanding and respecting social diversities, and creating new cultures.
Recently, South Korea's circles of history curriculums and education are also making efforts to develop new textbooks fit for the multicultural age. One of such examples is that Choong-Ang University's Cultural Contents Technology Research Institute, teaming up with Dongguk University's History Textbook Research Institute, developed the alternative multicultural history textbook Multiculturalism in Korean History(tentatively named) for youths. The alternative multicultural history textbook has reflected the diverse research achievements at home and abroad, and apart from the current authorized history textbooks, it is designed to be used as a supplementary textbook and auxiliary history learning material in secondary schools.
The alternative textbook classifies the history of Korea into early modern and recent modern times, generically presents the table of contents, and offers supplements (naturalized surnames of Korea, and the multicultural space of Itaewon) for helping learners understand. The contents consist of photos, pictures, maps, illustrations, statistics, and the highlights of multiculturalism, among other diverse supplementary materials, helping learners to understand the contents. The alternative textbook is now being edited after arranging a publisher in March 2016, and will be published at the end of August.
The alternative textbook emphasizes that Korea has not been a multicultra society, but that, in the process of unfolding Korea's history, diverse cultural elements by time have flowed into the history, with such elements having greatly influenced the formation of present-day culture of Korea.
