한국의 다문화적 상황과 다중다문화선교 리더십 (Multi-multicultural Mission Leadership in the Korean Multicultural Context)

초록

This article explores a concept of multi-multicultural leadership in the Korean multicultural mission context. Examining multicultural mission activities of the Korean churches, the article discloses both a positive aspect to improve human-rights and social welfares for immigrants and a negative aspect to overlook inherent natures of the ‘multicultural’ mission. In order to emphasize the ‘multicultural’ nature the article establishes a multi-multicultural mission leadership.
Also the multi-multicultural mission can respond to multi-strata and contradictory aspects of contemporary global multiculturalism and further provide with an appropriate approach for individual immigrants from various cultural backgrounds.
First, the article analyzes the mission activities of the Korean churches and discloses their limitations. Various program-based events to assimilate immigrants into Korean society have been performed by assimilation policies. Similarly the programs have been progressed in the backgrounds not to take into accounts of multiculturalism, but monocultural prejudices of Korean mononationalism.
Secondly, the paper attempts to define the multi-multicultural mission leadership. Above all, the concept and structure of missional leadership is explained for understanding of the multi-multicultural mission leadership which deals with the gospel of God in multicultural context. Multicultural competence for mission leadership is to get ‘enlightened consciousness’, ‘grounded knowledge base’, and ‘cumulative skill-proficiency’.
Thirdly, the article suggests to cultivate four kinds of mission leaderships to the Korean churches. According to the extent of performing multicultural competence, the churches can establish i) multi-multicultural mission leadership to treat the multi-strata and even contradictory aspects of various cultures in global context, ii) intercultural or bicultural mission leadership to deal with two or three ethnic groups, iii) social-welfare workers to assist multicultural immigrants, and lastly iv) multicultural functional professionals such as nurses for immigrants.
