하나님의 말씀으로서의 성경권위에 대한 해석학적 고찰: 해석학의 삼중적 과업을 활용하여 (A Hermeneutical Reflection on Scripture’s Authority as the Word of God: Appreciating the Threefold Task of Hermeneutics)

초록

개혁주의 관점에서 볼 때, 성경은 살아있는 하나님의 말씀으로서 그 권위를 지닌다. 이는 개혁주의 성경권위담론에서 궁극적인 질문이 ‘어떻게 살아있 는 하나님의 말씀을 더욱더 신실하게 경청하고 지금 여기의 삶에서 살아낼 수 있는가’여야 함을 상기시켜준다. 성경권위에 대한 진정한 인식과 고백은 결국 ‘어떻게 하면 성경이 스스로 말하게 하고 우리의 가장 깊은 내면이 성 경을 통해 듣는 하나님의 말씀에 의해 도전받고 재형성되고 변혁되게 할 것 인가’의 문제이다. 이러한 인식은 해석학적 차원이 성경권위담론의 핵심적 이고 결정적인 구성요소여야 한다는 주장으로 이어진다.
현대의 철학적 해석학의 분야에서 성경권위담론을 위해 매우 적절하고 가 치 있는 목소리들이 나타나고 있음을 주목할 필요가 있다. 그러한 통찰들은 해석학의 삼중적 과업, 즉 ‘해석적 우상 제거하기,’ ‘삶과의 지속적 연관성을 촉진하기,’ 그리고 ‘타자의 소리를 경청하기’로 요약될 수 있다.
첫째, 해석적 우상을 제거하는 해석학의 기술은 성경을 우리 자신의 이익 과 욕망과 이해를 정당화하는 수단으로 조작하는 것을 막고, 성경을 통해 말 씀하시는 성령의 임재를 분별하게 해준다. 둘째, 해석학은 성경읽기의 우선적 목표가 무엇보다도 독자의 성품과 사고방식과 삶을 형성하고 변혁하는 것임을 강조함으로써, 독자로 하여금 구체적 삶 속에서 성경을 체현하도록 돕는다. 셋째, 해석학은 타자로서의 하나님의 말씀에 자신을 개방하여 성경 의 다양성과 통일성을 존중하고, 결국에는 궁극적인 초월적 타자이신 하나 님의 음성에 귀 기울이도록 돕는다.
우리가 성경을 읽고 성경의 권위를 고백하는 데 있어서, 성령은 성경뿐만 아니라 기독교 전통과도 깊이 공명되는 이러한 해석학적 통찰을 사용하여 독자로 하여금 성경 안에서 하나님이 실제로 말씀하시는 바를 깨닫게 하고, 더 나아가 성경의 실천과 실행이 그 해석에 굳게 결합하게 하신다.
따라서 현대 철학적 해석학의 중요한 통찰들을 비판적으로 활용하여 우리 는 살아있는 하나님의 말씀으로서의 성경의 권위를 다시금 선언하고 고백할 수 있다. 이 논문을 통하여, 필자는 성경권위와 성경읽기 사이의 해석학적 역동성이 회복되어야 하는 필요성을 강조하고 더 나아가 해석학적 차원이 성경권위 담론에 재통합되어야 함을 역설하고자 한다.

영어초록

From a Reformed point of view, Scripture claims its authority as the living Word of God. It means that a crucial question in the talk of scriptural authority should be ‘how to hear more faithfully the living Word of God and furthermore to live it here and now.’ Acknowledging and confessing authentically Scripture’s authority relates to the matter of how to let Scripture speak for itself and how to let our innermost challenged, reshaped, and transformed by the living Word of God we hear through Scripture. Upon this, we can draw a conclusion that the hermeneutical dimension must be thought of as a constitutive and critical part of the talk of scriptural authority.
In the area of contemporary philosophical hermeneutics, we can recognize some relevant and valuable voices for the talk of scriptural authority. These voices and insights can be summed up as the threefold task of hermeneutics, that is, ‘removing interpretive idols,’ ‘facilitating ongoing life-engagement with Scripture,’ and ‘listening to other voices.’ Firstly, a hermeneutical art of removing interpretive idols prevents us from using Scripture as a manipulating tool to legitimate our own interests, desires, and understanding, and thus helps us to discern the presence of the Spirit speaking through Scripture. Secondly, hermeneutics emphasizes the formation and transformation of our character, habits of thought, and life as the primary aim of reading Scripture, and by so doing facilitates the embodiment of Scripture in our concrete life. Thirdly, hermeneutics would render us open towards the Word of God as otherness and enable us to respect the plurality and unity of Scripture and eventually to listen to the viva vox Dei, the voice of the ultimate transcendent Other.
For the Christian practice of reading Scripture and confessing Scripture’s authority, the Holy Spirit uses those hermeneutical insights, which seem to resonate deeply with the theological resources found in the Bible and the Christian tradition, not only in leading our interpretation to what God is really saying in and through Scripture, but also in wedding our performance of Scripture as closely as possible to our interpretation.
Therefore, critically appreciating contemporary hermeneutical insights, we can reclaim and confess the authority of Scripture as the living word of God. In this study, I intend to stress the need to retrieve the dynamic hermeneutical relation between the authority of Scripture and the reading of Scripture and hence the need to reintegrate the hermeneutical dimension into the talk of scriptural authority.
