초록

개신교회의 설교는 그 본래의 모습과 기능을 회복해야 한다. 초대교회와 종교개혁자들이 실행했던 말씀의 사역은 성경의 낭독과 그 해설이었다. 그러나 오늘의 대부분의 개신교회는 설교 자체를 말씀의 사역의 전체로 이해하고 있다. 더 심각한 문제는 설교는 본질적으로 성경을 해설하는 역할을 하는 것인데, 많은 설교자들이 자기 생각과 주장을 청중에게 주입하는 것을 설교라고 잘못 인식하고 있다. 개신교회를 말씀 중심의 교회라고 할 때, 여기서 말씀이란 기록된 계시의 말씀인 성경이 중심된다는 뜻이지, 설교가 우선이라는 의미는 결코 아니다.
누가복음 4장 16-30절은 예수님의 나사렛 회당 설교를 기록하고 있다. 이 회당 설교는 그 당시 유대인 회당의 ‘말씀의 예전’의 단면을 보여주고 있다. 예수님은 회당의 전통에 따라 예언서를 낭독하고 낭독한 본문을 해설하시며 하나님의 말씀을 전하셨다. 누가는 이 설교를 예수님의 메시아 취임설교로 이해하고 있으며, 예수님의 설교를 통해 메시아가 이방인을 구원한다는 것을 명확하게 보여주고 있다.
나사렛 회당 설교는 오늘의 교회와 설교자들에게 여러 가지 교훈을 준다. 첫째, 말씀의 예전의 초점은 성경에 있어야 한다. 기록된 하나님의 말씀으로서 성경은 설교보다 신학적으로 더 높은 권위를 가진다. 따라서 말씀의 예전에서 성경의 낭독은 설교보다 더 존중히 여김을 받아야 한다. 둘째, 말씀의 예전에서 설교는 성경을 해설하는 사역임을 잊지 말아야 한다. 설교는 설교자의 말을 하기 위해서가 아니라, 예배 중에 낭독된 성경을 해설하기 위해 주어진 순서이다. 여기서 이탈하여 설교자가 성경을 해설하지 않고 자신의 생각과 주장을 하게 된다면, 그는 자기의 권한을 넘어 오만하게 하나님의 자리에 서 있게 된다. 셋째, 성경의 낭독과 그 해설은 예수 그리스도의 복음에 초점을 두어야 한다. 하나님의 계시는 예수 그리스도 안에서 완성되었고, 성경은 예수가 그리스도임을 증거하고 있다. 따라서 하나님의 계시를 전달하는 설교자는 성경을 해설하면서 성경이 예수 그리스도를 증언하고 있음을 성실히 설명해야 한다.

영어초록

The sermon of the Protestant Church needs to recover its original form and function. The role of the Word carried out by the early church and the Reformers was the reading out loud of the Holy Scripture, along with its interpretation. However, the majority of Protestant Churches today understand solely the sermon itself as the entire role of the Word. A more serious concern is that while the sermon should bear the role of commentating on the essentials of scripture, many preachers wrongly view it as a tool to feed the masses their own thoughts and opinions. If we define the Protestant Church as the church centered on the Word, here the Word stands for the written revelations of the Word, or Bible, which should be centered rather than the sermon itself.
Luke 4:16-30 records Jesus preaching at the synagogue in Nazareth. This sermon at the synagogue shows us a picture of the “liturgy of the Word” of Jewish synagogues of the times. According to the tradition of the synagogue, Jesus read from the prophetic book and preached the Word of God by commentating on the main scripture. Luke understands this sermon as Jesus’ inaugural sermon as the Messiah, and through Jesus’ sermon he shows clearly that the Messiah brings salvation to the Gentiles.
The Sermon at the Nazarene synagogue offers several important lessons for today’s church and preachers. First, the liturgy of the Word must be centered on the Bible. As the recorded Word of God, the Bible holds much more theological authority than the sermon. Therefore, in the liturgy of the Word the scripture reading must be held with much more esteem than the sermon. Second, it must not be forgotten that in the liturgy of the Word, the role of the sermon is to commentate on the Bible. The sermon should not be used to preach the words of the preacher, but rather is the time of worship to interpret the read scripture. If the preacher deviates and does not interpret the scripture but only to preach his or her own words, he or she oversteps his or her own authority and arrogantly comes to stand at the throne of God. Third, the reading and commentating of the scripture must be centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. The revelation of God was perfected within Jesus Christ, and the Bible bears witness to this. Therefore, the preacher who passes on the revelation of God must interpret the Bible and with great detail explain how the bible testifies how the Bible is bearing witness to Jesus Christ.
