초록

본 논문은 이번 세월호 사건을 겪으며 다시 돌이켜 보게 되는 전통적인 신학의 전제들을 비판적으로 검토하려고 한다. 특히 여성신학의 입장에서 고전적인 그러나 현재에도 지배적으로 작용하고 있는 ‘상처받지 않는 하나님(the unmoved mover)’ 개념을 검토하며, 오히려 하나님의 상처받은 마음과 고통의 깊이를 헤아리고, 생명을 무시하고 파괴한 잘못을 돌아보려고 한다. 특히 전능의 하나님 이미지를 검토하는 가운데 하나님의 약함을 하나님의 능력으로 그리고 그것이야말로 변혁을 가능하게 하는 원동력으로 고찰할 것이다. 사실, 평생 지워질 수 없는 상처를 가지고 살아가야 하는 이들에게 아무 일 없었다는 듯 그냥 돌아가는 변화되지 않는 사회는 그 자체가 고통이다. 좀처럼 바뀌지 않는 현실에 저항하며 살아 내야 하는 약자들에게 지속적인 힘이 되어주는 하나님의 ‘함께-함’은 하나님의 약함으로 표현할 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문은 그러한 하나님의 약함이 갖는 정치신학적 의미를 새기고 변화와 개혁의 계기로 삼아, 불의한 현실에 맞서는 대안적 힘으로 생각해 볼 것이다.

영어초록

It has been almost one year since the Sewol-ho disaster which left many people dead and missing. Without any social and political changes made, however, other safety-related accidents have disappointingly continued and lingered on the country. In the situation that the surviving families are still suffering from their stark reality, this study seeks to articulate the God’s power perfected in the weakness that may not be weak at all specifically from a feminist theological perspective. Indeed, the emotional wounds of the bereaved still remain untreated and the corrupt relations between the government and private sectors that have caused this 4/16 calamity unaccounted for.
Thus, grappling incisively with the traditional framework of God’s almighty power, this will explore the with-ness of God for the poor and the vulnerable in special terms of the weakness of God, the original grace, and the subversive memory of God. In this vein, arguing for a feminist theological understanding of God’s compassionate and incarnate presence, this attempts not only to deconstruct the conventional images of God’s all-controlling omnipotence but also to develop a feminist theological concept of God’s weakness due to the with-ness of God. The traditional images of the perfect and thus somewhat apathetic God only serve to maintain the status quo, perpetuating the plight of the less privileged. According to feminist theologians, the absence of relationship does not necessarily mean the highest perfections but rather signifies lack. This study thereby contends that the current theological framework obviously needs a re-symbolization of divine power not as a dominative or controlling power but as a dialectical power in weakness, which is liberating the power of God’s compassionate with-ness. I believe, this weakness of God enables those who are still suffering from the 4/16 disaster to live out in their dire situation, giving them the power of courageous and tenacious resistances.
The Sewol-ho disaster of April 16, 2014 has not been finished yet since the real causes of the accident have not been revealed and the much-disputed Sewol-ho bill still does not reflect their request for the truth. I think the constitutive and subversive memory of the compassionate with-ness of God, as this study maintains, soteriologically opens up hope for those who are still suffering from the tragedy of the 4/16 disaster.
