초록

연구 목적 : 본 연구는 개신교 목회자의 성 비위 문제와 그 원인을 분석하고, 이를 예방하는 방안으로 정서지능의 역할을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 권력남용, 교회의 법적·행정적 견제 부족, 가부장적 사회문화, 윤리·영성·정서적 요인 등을 고려하여 성 비위와 정서적 요인의 관계를 심층적으로 분석하고, 기독교 교육에서 정서지능을 함양할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 연구 내용 및 방법 : 이 연구는 문헌 연구를 중심으로 진행되며, 목회자의 성 비위 원인을 다양한 측면에서 분석한다. 먼저, 성 비위에 대한 선행연구와 보고된 통계를 바탕으로 권력남용과 권위주의적 구조, 교회의 법적·행정적 견제 장치 부족, 가부장제 및 남성 중심의 사회문화적 영향, 그리고 목회자의 윤리·영성·정서적 심리 요인을 검토한다. 이후, 정서지능의 개념과 도덕적 판단 및 자기조절 능력과의 관계를 분석하고, 정서지능 발달이 목회자의 성 비위 예방에 미치는 영향을 탐구한다. 마지막으로, 목회자의 정서지능 함양을 위한 교육적 접근과 교회 공동체 내에서 정서지능을 발전시킬 수 있는 교육과정 설계 및 적용 방안을 제시한다. 결론 및 제언 : 본 연구는 목회자의 성 비위를 단순한 개인적 일탈로 보기보다, 교회 구조와 사회문화적 요인, 그리고 목회자의 정서적 요소까지 포함하여 다각도로 분석한다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 목회자의 정서지능 개발이 성 비위 예방에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있음을 제시하며, 이를 실천할 수 있는 기독교 교육의 방향성을 모색한다. 나아가, 신앙의 본질과 가치를 회복하고, 개인의 존엄성과 공동체성을 강화하는 성숙한 교회로 나아가는 방안을 제언하고자 한다.

영어초록

The ongoing reports of various misconduct by religious leaders are a significant contributor to the growing negative perception of religion. In particular, sexual misconduct by religious leaders goes against the ethical values of a religion and has a significant impact on not only the negative perception of the religion, but also on the decline of the organization and its members, as well as on growth rates. Sexual misconduct by religious leaders is a cross-denominational issue and has been a constant throughout the history of religion. In recent years, sexual misconduct has been publicized and publicized not only by the leaders of certain Christian cults, but also by pastors in major Christian denominations, leading to public criticism of the church and Christianity as a whole, not just of the pastors who engage in sexual misconduct. This study will first examine the sexual misconduct of Protestant church leaders, who are commonly referred to as “pastors” in the context of the issue of sexual misconduct among various religious leaders. It will then reflect on the understanding and development of emotional intelligence in Christian education that can contribute to the prevention of pastor sexual misconduct. In particular, we will focus on the emotions of those who are directly involved in sexual misconduct, reflecting on the abuse of power and authoritarianism by individual pastor, the lack of legal and administrative checks and balances in the church to prevent sexual misconduct, patriarchy, male dominance, and male-centered socio-cultural sentiments, and the disruption of the ethics, spirituality, and emotional psychology of individual pastor. The ultimate purpose of this study is to strengthen the essence and value of faith, the noble dignity and self-realization of individuals, and the community that overcomes loneliness and alienation, and to build a mature church, which has been neglected due to the deviation of an individual pastor. To this end, this study will first analyze the literature and reported statistics on the causes of sexual misconduct among pastor through a literature review, and then attempt a complementary exploration of emotional intelligence in relation to other reported or studied causes. We will examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and sexual misconduct, the development of emotional intelligence in pastors, and explore emotional intelligence curricula that can be implemented in churches.
